What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Those wires absolutely should have been 50mm longer. A pox on the Nissan accountants who demanded that cost saving!
The wires on the sidestep lights are the same, just long enough to fit, but not long enough to get your hand behind to unplug, but given all the electrics on an Elgrand, Nissan probably saved about 50 metres of copper per vehicle, but I would gladly pay the 5 quid extra per vehicle to be able to get the bl++dy sidelights in.

FWIW after the first time removing the headlights (and undoing the hidden bolt in the wing) I'll be unbolting the headlight unit itself next time I need to do that job. So much easier with proper access.

Replaced battery and given it a good clean, jacked it up and checked handbrake not sticking. Drove it back and forth on drive to try and clean discs. It has been off road for a year so hopefully passes its MOT on Monday.

Carefully cleaned the rust off of the gas tank, using a flap wheel and carefully because I didn't want the tank to get hot, for obvious reasons. I think the previous owner reversed into parking spaces as the tank had quite a few scrapes do to it being low slung. Gave it a coat of jenolite rust converter and topped it off with a coat of hammerite, it was a lot easier with the rear bumper off.

Took Magnu down South to see @Lpgc again, first time was August 2023. This visit was for an LPG service and to check out some electrical weirdness that started prior to my last battery going flat.

The LPG system is working fine, Simon just replaced a filter.
Thanks @Lpgc

Apart from a positioning error and the post clamps not being as tight as they could be, owner/fitter error :pensive: , the new battery is good.

The same can't be said for the Android head unit which has been going wrong. On 3 occasions now the display has gone blank and there is no response to the soft button controls, it only comes to life after disconnecting the battery or pulling the media fuse behind the coin tray. After being disconnected the screen works but it only displays a message with two options that should be choosable by the soft button controls but they are not responding. The only thing that has worked so far is to use a pin to push the reset button to get the head unit working. On 2 of the occasions I have seen a vertical screen of red and green text akin to what is seen on Linux and Unix boot sequences, I couldn’t read what was going on because I was driving and can't drive with my reading glasses.
Looks like it's time for a new head unit.

Nice to meet you again mate

Not done a lot for a while ( life gets in the way sometimes).
Did find myself with a spare hour earlier so started stripping a couple of sets of rear light clusters, hoping to make something to match the light bar and corners I made up a while back ( been so long I nearly forgot I made them )—-a plan is hatching lol
I still have the black led suns from Chris wills to fall back on if tits go upwards lol

That's why I've changed to varifocals, getting older is a pain in the neck, at least now i can see the road and the GPS when necessary.
I too have this issue (being long-sighted but not being able to see the road ahead if I wear my normal glasses which are intended for reading/computer use) and found that I can get by with a pair of these:

Plain lenses up top, reading prescription in the bottom third or so - perfect for reading car dials, sat navs etc whilst not buggering up my distance vision. Cheaper than varifocals and means when I'm doing anything at distance I don't need to wear my glasses at all. I suspect if I had varifocals then I'd get a stiff neck at work staring at a screen most of the day, as I'd be constantly tilting my head up to use the magnifying part of the lens.

I also have a pair of sunglasses that are the same sort of thing:

Random question, when changing front shocks and springs, do people normally change the top mounts too for good measure?

MOT time coming up next month, I've already replaced drop links and ARB bushes all round, plus rear shocks and uprated JDM rear springs (but not changed the fronts yet, so have a slight hotrod stance going on...) - thinking of replacing the fronts with JDM uprated front shocks and springs whilst it is in for MOT as the ride still seems pretty harsh and crashy to me, which I understand is not normal for an Elgrand running OE wheels and ride height - but wondering if it's worth doing the top mounts at the same time?

On the one hand it's only £90 for the pair and no extra labour I guess if the shocks and springs are coming off anyway, but on the other it's £90 I don't need to spend if they are not considered a consumable part when replacing shocks and springs.

Not done by me but have had this photo sent to me.

Done by G after I could not get it to match up on the splines on my Elgrand.

He has drilled out the Nissan Qashqai complete assembly of the female splines on the wheel and rewelded back in with the complete assembly of male splines from a S1 wheel from a breaker.

To say I am chuffed is an understatement as I really liked the wheel and will suit my Elgrand a lot better than the standard cream an wood Rider wheel I have on at present with the changes I have made and am making to the interior.

Thought it was destined for the tip and G has redeemed it, thank you mate.

Have also had a full set of 4 of these arrive from Japan

Tanei-sha T5-189 1X 7.5 4X100 ET+42 offset These are fully forged wheels and weigh a fraction over 6kl each and are stunning.

Not for my Elgrand but bought for my grandsons 2005 Clio cup.

Well, got mine serviced yesterday and new rear brake caliper fitted. It seized up a couple of years ago when we were on the NC500. Limped home and got the caliper serviced. It's lasted until recently, but with a trip coming up decided new was the best resolution.
