Sold an E50 Lemon?!

Good point I think they did do a 3.2 come to think of it,I thought the 2.7 pump looked different lol
I've been looking at the idea of terrano parts as an option in case of future problems πŸ‘also i believe the 3.2 was used in the cabstar trucks so may be another option.i think if it runs ok when it is running chances are its something minor but critical if that makes sense?these engines are supposedly pretty tough(main reason i got mine rather than the later 3.0 timebomb😲)

Yeh the cabstar too I know the 2.7 terrano water pump fits as it's what I put on mine

Latest update! Missed garage owners call he left a message to say they were unable to code read it with their specialist equipment, took it to Nissan who were also unable to code read it either. Cost fortunately so far is very minimal even though they've had it for over a week, they've made a small repair to fuel line and paper fuel filter.
Will give him a call in the morning, but sounds like that they've got to the end of the line

with it. Not sure where to go from here. Im no mechanic but reading some of the threads the stalling doesn't seem to stop people driving it about regardless of the stalling. Want to get it sorted. Having looked at the threads these might be worth exploring....

- Maf clean/replace
- Diesel injector cleaner
- Crank sensor clean/change
- wynns dry fuel
- make sure your battery and alternator are functioning well

If I bring the old girl home even a complete novice like myself could manage the dry fuel and diesel injector cleaner. Are the other checks/cleaning relatively straight forward to anyone's knowledge? Or as someone who is not very competent should I try another garage to get a second opinion?
We had to jump start it a number of times, I put it down to the cold and it not being used much, but could this be contributing/ed to the stalling at all?

Thanks again! πŸ‘
I am suprised the Nissan dealers even attempted to code read it as Nissan UK use OBD and OBD2 whilst the early E50 uses JOBD and a 14 pin connector. Most UK Nissan dealers wont touch an Elgrand with a barge pole. My Launch code reader will read it if you get stuck as your in Derby. I can run a test on it but nowdays dont have time to work on them anymore.

Thanks Brian that's a very kind offer, I may well take you up on it if things don't improve! πŸ‘

OK where is @CantonasCollar ?
I am praying he has magically sorted the issue with a cleaner and he has just buggered off on a long road trip and has no internet access.
🀞
😊 If only Kermit! Sounds lovely that driving off into the sunset on a long road trip without a care in the world!

Apologies for the delay in giving an update, it's been a busy few days with one thing or another!
So I picked it up on Saturday morning, it drove back fine, no judders no stalling no EML on.
I then took it out filled it up with some posh diesel stalled once at the lights and then a trip to Halfords to get some wynn's extreme clean and drove home absolutely fine. Then on Monday the litmus test was the wife taking it out for a good run (she was nervous and hesitant to drive) and it passed with flying colours, no stalling reversing and no stalling at the lights. All looking rosey. Until today that is, the wife took it out to get a shop and the EML comes on out of nowhere as she starts it up, she braved it and still went shopping, it didn't stall at all. I started her up this evening to check and the EML started to flash on and off.
So not sure where we stand really? Still working our way through the half tank with the Wynn's in it. The stalling doesn't look to be an issue at the moment but we now have the EML on for some reason? Strange how its all of a sudden come on after being fine for a few days. πŸ€”

May be some improvement if it hasn't stalled might take a bit of blasting through with new fuel and treatment so might take a while but best get codes read and delete see what comes back

Thanks Matt, yeah things are looking promising from a stalling perspective, I plan to take it out for a long drive when time permits, it's just this EML that's popped out of nowhere. Does the EML flashing normally indicate that there is a stored fault code?
I'll get myself a diagnostics kit, so it's a 14 pin I need and then I can use the app (name escapes me now but will do some digging) is there any diagnostics kit that you or anyone could recommend at all? Thanks again. πŸ‘

Yeh it will of stored a code a few may come up but once you delete them see what comes back I use Nissan data scan app nds2 on android I got my 14 pin plug and lead off Ebay but I can't send you a link as seller isn't on anymore in the meantime just keep giving it a good old blast

Forgot to mention you will need an adaptor lead from your phone to a USB femail

Can't remember from previous but Did you change fuel filter?additives will clean fuel system but that will include the tank and supply lines so may drag all sorts of crap into filter, years ago my dad had similar symptoms in a new capri and dealer took tank off and found a bit of plastic bag that they reckoned kept getting sucked over outlet😲not sure if injector pump will shut down if supply is restricted but its possible i guess

Hey, no need to apologize I was just starting to get both excited and worried in equal measure.
Would love it if this issue buggered off like @Cliff Goodwin experienced with his Ellie.

I've got the 14 pin plug you linked to above, it'll be here next week so will delete the stored codes as you say and see what new codes pop up! I'll continue to give it a good blast though as you also say and hope for the best! 🀞
Getting a little closer to sorting it out. πŸ™ πŸ‘
Here's hoping so Dognero! 😊🀞

Yeah they changed the fuel filter Fuzz, sounds a bit worrying what happened to your dad's car, hopefully it won't happen to mine! 😬

Thanks Kermit, that's nice to hear. 😊
Haven't had the chance to take it out over the past few days, life has got in the way but will hopefully get the opportunity to take it out for a blast or two over the weekend. As mentioned above I've got the plug on the way to sort out the stored codes and see what codes come back after that. Need to sort ASAP as MOT is due next month 🧐
