Sold an E50 Lemon?!

did they say what was wrong with the pump and if its goosed maybe steve at tojo motors has one or take it to a pump specialist and get a second opinion if its just the seal it might be salvageable at a reasonable price there are other breakers out there

Don't write the pump off its worth getting the codes yourself it might be a case of removing the fuel quantity sensor and giving it a clean change fuel filter and put a decent fuel cleaner in and give it a blast

Hi Kermit, Does that sound like too much? It's at Bullivant's in Chad, Derby.
Sorry I am probably getting myself confused, I thought I had seen them on Ebay for £200, I am obviously way off and looking at the wrong part sorry again.

I completely understand why you are pulling your hair out, so unfair.

Thanks for the reply Matt, so if it was you would you get her back from the garage, buy a reader and the clean the sensor, change the filter and then run cleaner through it? I have to be honest I'm no car mechanic but willing to learn, are these things you mention fairly simple to do?

No problem at all Kermit! 👍 Wish it was only £200! 😊

Hi Bob, thanks for the message, I'm not sure they have got as far as looking at it yet they are only going by what the diagnostics (manual peddle diagnostics) have told them and have said that the pump and fuel filter need replacing going by what the diagnostics told them.

I'd get codes first but filter and the additive is an easy enough job to do think the sensor is a bit fiddly but its doable if it comes up with that problem have a read on what I tagged further up in the messages and good luck

If you want a second opinion from a diesel specialist these are supposed to be great, possibly worth a call?

£1100, still cannot get over that.

OK thanks matt, will do a bit of research and have a look for a decent diagnostics kit. Thanks for the recommendations and info.

Cheers for the recommendation Kermit, it's certainly worth a call, looks like they're the sort of people that will know one way or another!

Yeah definitely worth a call you never know, they could say 'meh don't worry, bring it in we'll sort it piece of cake for not too much money'
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Bet garage will just get swadlincote to do it at trade prices then make a nice earner on it.

If you download the nds2 app and buy the correct lead I got mine off Ebay that will tell you what you need to know but the garage it's at should be able to tell you what codes have come up to of diagnosed the pump

I had the fuel metering sensor show up as a code on the ECUTalk software, after I used a fuel can of diesel that unfortunately had a small amount of veg oil in the bottom.
I used a high concentration of injector cleaner, fuel additive in two consecutive fill ups and it got rid of the code cause.
Worth a try?

Sounds random, but this topic came up on an Elgrand Facebook page today. 3.2 randomly cutting out. One of the owners in the conversation, who'd had the same symptoms started using super diesel in his, and not had any problems since, until he put normal diesel in one day and it started playing up again. So maybe its worth running a couple of tanks of premium diesel through it and see if it changes any of the problems
