Nice motor upto Pateley Bridge today, mouch round the MG annual car rally meet, some lovely old motors ( makes me wish I still had mine) then home again. Earl never missed a beat

First drive in my E51 yesterday, took 1.5 hours to travel 7 miles due to traffic. Being sat a new (to me) car made it bearable.

Last week i drove from Liverpool to Anglesey and back 188miles. (300KM)
Then i drove around for a week, up and down hills, mountains, country roads, 60, 40, 30 and plenty of 20mph roads.
Lots of ridiculous 60mph to 20mph changes....yet when there is a hairpin bend on a road they leave it as a 60 zone, completely backwards at road safety.
Any who, 490miles (790KM) pottering about.
In total 678miles in a week, no issues at all - other than an issue on the way home which was self inflicted.
I didn't pay attention to how much fuel i had when i left, or lack of it.
When i did bother to look i was approaching the Menia Bridge and thought if the traffic was bad i might not reach blighty.
I bailed into a speedboat garage that appeared in a field to my left called FLARE
It had four old fashioned pumps ( analogue reading ) and one of those glass bowls with a propeller in it so you could see the fuel being dispensed.
I didn't fill it up, but put £40 in - it ran like a bag of sh17e all the way home, lack of power, when in standing traffic the revs would drop low and it was hesitant pulling away, I'm not sure whether it was due to bad fuel or the fact it was E10 that i had to put in, Ive always used E5.....
It runs perfect now after I brimmed tank of Momentum.

For the past month or so (Probably longer now I think of it.) I have been doing traffic laden and short journeys. Geez, Nisa doesn't like it one bit, I am putting in £60 of petrol every two to three days with an average of 8.5 kms per litre (24 MPG) .
Today, for the first time, I was able to get a decent run on the motorway and could watch the estimated range *climb*.

Would have thought 24 mpg on short journeys was an excellent return to be honest

It would normally, it's just a LOT of small journeys and in traffic recently so I'm burning through fuel a lot faster than I used to. Hopefully that situation will be getting sorted soon.

Magnu performed perfectly yesterday and today.
Yesterday SWMBO (@YvonneW ) was 60 and it was day 1 for number 1 sons house move. Magnu's work started with having the rear seats changed around so I could transport 2 bunk beds, 4 mattresses and a number of boxes.
After doing that the seats were changed back to passenger mode so we and two friends could go for a slap up meal at Beamish Stables.
This morning was day 2 of the house move so the seats were changed back to transportation mode for a double mattress, bags of clothes, suitcases and more boxes. Magnu was accompanied by number 1 daughters partner and his Transit Custom, Magnu is too posh to cart around a washing machine, chest freezer and old 3 piece suite.

I've had my E51 for less than a week, it has issues, i'm gonna fix them, then enjoy as many trips out with my family as i can enjoy with her. i'll ask lots of questions, enjoy the replies, fix stuff, mod stuff, but am i going to hate it, not one bit, i love driving and i am super excited to enjoy going out and about. Oh and i will post up the good stuff too. I am an E51 owner and i'm HAPPY, but WHY oh WHY didn't i do this earlier. Haha
EDIT: I did a trip (one) yesterday, that would have taken 4 trips in my Forester, now that is space.

Drove from London to Bristol and back in one day, dropping nephew off at university, with all his stuff. Had the back seats up on the sides, semi van mode, and that took all his bags and cases and guitars and speakers and pans and duvets and lamps and more bags 
Still had a fully reclinable middle seat free for his girlfriend to enjoy as well. The van was a dream and did it on 3/4 of a tank. Most important of all, the Elgrand has solidified my position as “cool uncle” and he no longer refers to my transport as “the pedo wagon”

It’s still very early days yet, only had Celestia (yes I named my Elgrand, I do that with any vehicle I’ve owned) since Monday, but so far it has been perfectly smooth to drive, it’s a little solid over bumpy surfaces but I suspect that’s more to do with the fact it’s the Rider variation, sport usually means stiffer suspension apparently XD.
Overall no complaints except that it guzzles fuel on a motorway like a fish swallows water, but went in knowing that so I won’t complain, most of my colleagues at my work place have had nothing but compliments for her.

Took the dog for a spin down to Caerphilly. I reckon it seems a bit smoother since the Shell fully 5w-30 is in it, but of course that might be in my head.

They say it’s a placebo effect, but I can feel it.
In fact mine drives smoother after it’s been washed.
