What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Went to DRA Services cos my new Elgrand e50 won't idle.
They said 'oh we've seen this one before and we diagnosed the fuel pump' ... My face dropped...
Then they told me that fuel pumps can't be repaired and finding a replacement is like finding rocking horse poop. On my knees...
Then I drove it home, it doesn't idle but it runs sooooo well. I love it already, just got to sort it. Its too good to give up on.
I also put a cherry flavour magic tree in it.
Is it a 3.0l neo

Morning!
cracked wing mirror

I have no idea how to embed images, sorry.

*someone* broke the drivers door mirror, Ebay has one in japan but I wanted to check does anyone have one/recommend someone in the uk that might have one? It's for a pearl white E51 2002 with no lights or cameras.
Just seen these , not the cheapest iv'e seen but in the uk and open to offers

with the pump it could be a seal the one on my Mitsubishi Delica failed as the seal shrinks because of the sulfur in the diesel a good diesel pump specialist should be able to do it

Thanks all, I turned up a set of white s1 mirrors on facebook market place with a few scuffs and paid the man £220

Ouch

but that's the price of 1 from japan so there's not much room to complain. they've got CHROME (witness me) covers with side repeaters in them so if the wiring isn't there I'll run it anyway, it's quite a good safety thing.

to be fair the retract wasn't working in that mirror anyway, I waggled it back and forth, tried giving it a slap, nothing worked and it remains floppy.

Have I justified my purchase of chrome items enough yet?

Looks like he's already got hold of some bud @Highway Dave! Good find though if someone else on here needs one!

Hi Malcolm,
What exactly is it doing when you start up cold?

Hi Malcolm,
What exactly is it doing when you start up cold?
Morning,
Starts on the button, can't fault it.
Will run for anything between 10 seconds and 2 minutes, maybe more. Then starts hunting for idle, very erratic. Then it'll stop.
It'll start right up again no issue, hot or cold makes no difference.
The issue is really only an issue when you need to idle... Trafficights, traffic jams, junctions, roundabouts,.....
When your going its all good, doesn't miss a beat and its a nice place to be.

Dose your model have a idle control valve aswell as a mass air flow
Look at it light heartedly if it's only in traffic stick in neutral and hold revs and call it carictor

Morning, I don't know if it has an idle control valve. Another point to check, thank you.
I look at everything lightheartedly, but three point turning an automatic that won't idle, challenging.

I havwca solution for the 3 point turn lol little bit of heavy foot and full lock but that's wjatvid check the controll valve if your model has 1

With my old E50, 3.2, I disabled the EGR valve, I also found it needed the air and fuel ways 'cleaning' each year. New Air Filter, Fuel Filter Water Drain, (New Fuel Filter if last change unknown) Fuel Injector Cleaner, 10k Boost Foaming Intake Cleaner and finally a Cotton Bud with meths on, to VERY GENTLY clean the MAF elements. Also check the plugs on the accelerator pedal are seated properly.

Well yesterday I used her to do one of the things she does better than any other car - take some friends and all their luggage from the Midlands to Heathrow airport through the ice and snow. Very well loaded up, but with the assurance of 4x4 and by leaving early we could take our time and have a very stress free, safe and comfortable journey. And when we got there she is still "small" enough to be able to park easily.

Man she picked up some dirt from those roads though!

Tracking done after the TEIN coiloers had been installed. All good, but camber still out. Suspect some bushes still need to be replaced.
If you have the suspension low then there isn't enough camber adjustment on the rear to get to factory spec, the front should be OK on max adjustment.

Thank you.
Hi 18 and 22 are the fault codes regarding your pump 18 been the controller on top of the pump you really need to find out the codes before you assume its the pump I take it the garage you used had 14pin consult to diagnose

DRA do have the correct diagnostic equipment according to their website. I do wonder if they actually did check the codes on this occasion or if they just said oh yes we've seen this before and that's what it was.
@Money pit how about you go back to them and ask them what the code was? Their answer will tell you whether they did check or not and if so will also give an idea of what to do to resolve.
I would be interested in their answer. Even though they're really convenient fir me I wouldn't want to use them again if they aren't up to the job!

Yeh will be interesting to know if they can provide codes could be a number of things I'd be changing fuel filter checking all vac lines and the intake elbow split that the 3.2 suffers but best to get codes before he moves forward

Yup, I feel a bit like starting over. They might laugh at me paying again for a fault code reading but I need a baseline to move forward from. I'll call them.
Then depending what they say... EGR clean, MAF clean (it's been replaced) Fuel Filter also. The thing hasn't really got any servvi e history for oils, filters etc. So, they'll all need doing, but got to find the main fault first.
