What have you done to your Elgrand today?

MOT tomorrow so spent some quality time under the Elgrand.
Bodged the fog light back on, cableties ahoy! and cleaned out the corrosion so that it works
replaced a rear 501 sidelight that had gone out with a very cheap and dodgy led one
replaced both serpentine belts on the front of the engine, changed the oil and filter and the air filter (blueprint filters and mannol 5w30, no idea if this is frowned upon or not)
refitted the undertray thats been off for a few months for... reasons.
welded up various exhaust holes, replaced a gasket at one of the rear cats, broke a bolt, drilled it out, fun.
replaced the crappy dash graphic thing with a decent one, all crisp and new looking now!

Best thing: discovered the rear heater system - there's a whole heater system back there guys!

worst thing: discovered emulsion in the coolant and under the oil filler cap :( looks like it's head gasket time.

MOT not passed. failed on a cracked (not split) inner CV boot, one on the way from the dreaded EBay, on the E51 at least they're a tri-lobe and the garage couldn't get hold of one at trade so I'll just do it at home. Pretty impressed that was the only issue though. Just need to sort that small issue and tighten up the new fanbelts, they seem to always stretch out a bit after installing and have started squealing.

Thursday.
Summer tyres and Rays alloys off.
17" Winters on.
Friday
Rear aircon blanking plate from BMR
Believe or not !!! 😲
I've just changed my wheels over to winters...
And repaired rear aircon box...
& I'm called Ray... 😱

Elgrand has just come back to the garage after the RDW fail.
All the lights were working but now I have a left light out! They apparently want me to remove all the centre lights and leave just the brake light, I think someone does not know what they are talking about!! lol
Now Im confused after looking at the pic below, do all the lights come on when braking as I see no numberplate lights on, maybe @Kenzie (Mary Poppins) if you don't mind you could check on your Rider for me!

Rear lights before it went to the RDW, looks like both bulbs in the centre light up for the rear lights (6 bulbs)!?

On mine all 4 are stop and tail the led versions I needed that worked and looked good cost me a pretty penny

@Kenzie (Mary Poppins) Nice one bud thats great! Just need to disconnect or remove the bulbs from the centre bar for the stupid rules in The Netherlands! Only allowed 2 rear lights and 3 brake lights apparently but afterwards I can put them all back in!!!
I had the same when I was living in germany

@Richard Fox but I can also remember 103/105 Ron being 50 cents a liter with my ration card so cheap fuel made for the hartal of getting the car ready for bfg every year and dint need to tax it either

The Netherlands is currently between 2.10 and 2.20 per litre for 99RON Vpower!!
I did stick some 105 Ron when I saw it just to try a few years back, but the price at the time was insane per litre and to be fair didn't notice a huge difference in the Elgrand! lol

Spent a bit of time poking around to find all of the storage compartments and stashed away tie down straps, tyre pressure gauge, air compressor, jump leads, jump start battery pack, de-icer, scraper and some assorted cloths.

Then you have to remember which compartment has what :joy:

Been investigating indicator and wiper stalk swap to put indicators on the left, as I keep swapping cars and getting it wrong.

E51 Elgrand and E11 Note stalks are the same part for JDM vehicles, so should be a direct swap physically. Just trying to work out if they are electrically equivalent but the Note workshop manual wiring diagrams are awful. Might just bite the bullet and buy some Note stalks as they are peanuts.

According to a 350Z forum you need to swap clock springs to get the indicators to cancel. But fortunately Elgrand and 350Z use the same clock spring so should be able to source a euro one.

Rear aircon blanked off today using the part from BMR, it's a good quality part. Used a local air con specialist in Stafford very professional and would use again.

Have mobile vans and also industrial unit with ramp.

Tells me he's had a few Elgrands in, but first with the BMR blanking plate.
