What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Is it just me or do Meguiars make the most amazing smelling detailing products. It even beats snorting Zymol!

PMSL Most of my current products are Meguiars and I agree they smell great! lol

A clear blue sky all day and no prior engagements = a whole day finishing the bus.
Tailgate clayed, and as there are a few light scratches on the bumper/aero I went over it all with Super Resin Polish. I love this stuff. I decided to go over the whole thing with it.
Next though, the front end was clayed. The headlights need de-yellowing but that'll be for another day.
Then I went over all panels except the roof with SRP.
After adding my Fresh & Minty car shack sticker I vacuumed the interior and spruced it up.
I couldn't be arsed after all that to black the tyres so I called it a day. I'm knackered.

Drove from Cardiff to Bristol with partner and son. Other two kids return tomorrow. Lovely drive and noticed the difference after change in filter. Fuel mpg up by 1 😝.

Looked at alloys, supercharger and what suspension mods can be done.

Well done and keep going. Its an over time thing until you get where you wanna be and then its easy just maintaining it from then onwards.

Used it as a motorcycle hauler today to get my very first bike home. Thanks to a fellow EOC member for keeping her warm for me. Looking forward to the restoration project a lot! Ignore the dirt on my Fazer (it's England in February ffs, can't keep it clean for a day) and how messy the garage is, going to have a big clear up before I start stripping the Virago down. Hoping to have it done by EOC Fest! I'll be respraying all the black parts in a deep candy red, replacing the side panels for aluminum sheet metal in candy red, refurbishing the wheels and spraying them black, engine back to chrome or silver with black spark plug covers... New bars, indicators, shocks and springs and a new black leather for the seat which I might get custom made with a "7" inlay... We'll see. Not to mention, a full engine inspection and service, stripping it down, cleaning everything up inside, replacing parts that look worn, putting it back together, adjusting valve timings and ultrasonic cleaning the carbs. I can see it in my head... It's going to be mad!

It's been driven daily all winter and been washed about, erm, twice I think. I didn't get it undersealed last year as intended and I knew then that the rear aircon access panel had rotted out. TBH I daren't look underneath :scream: It's well overdue a service too. I'm very unimpressed with how I've neglected it, especially since it's kept giving faultless service all winter. It's time to give it some proper TLC.

Just remembered that yesterday a guy in a Range Rover pulling a trailer delivering a wardrobe to next door popped his head round and said 'this looks mint, what make is it?'. We had a quick chat and he was very impressed with it.

Today a young lad walking past said to his Mum (just before he saw me) 'Mummy, look at this posh van!'.

Do you know how hard it is to get a good pic of a white Elgrand?! I got a couple but I'll try again tomorrow, weather permitting.

(after just a few square inches of panel)
Try taking photos either first hour of sunrise or last hour before sunset, the low sunlight produces a better light to show reflections.
Plus a good tip to get your paint clean is to use a Fallout remover{if you haven' t already) like bilt hamber Korrosol to remove iron particles, you'll be surprised just how much iron particles you have on your paint that both washing and clay bar will not remove.

I once tried some Autobrite Purple Rain 2 which was impressive stuff. Made removing all the tiny orange iron spots a lot easier, but it didn't last very long and felt like it worked out pretty expensive for the results. It somehow wasn't compelling enough to make me want to buy more of it. Looked pretty cool 'bleeding' though! Jeez, it stinks too!

Great job @MrChops looks gorgeous, well worth all the effort!!
Don't you just love it when people stop and chat about the Elgrand and then are blown away when you mention how old it is?! One reason why I am always polishing mine and trying to keep it as mint as possible! lol P*ssed myself when someone in Denmark thought it was a brand new vehicle!

People aren't surprised when I tell them mine's the same age as me. :(

I used mine to recover a guy back home that broke down at work. Hardest part was getting the bike in the back, they aint light fast sports bikes.

I stuck tax and insurance on mine and took the beemer off the road :) Looks like I might have some fun tomorrow with the weather and my new aquisition having ditch finder tyres on especially given my beemer has winter tyres and the one day its snowed in 3 years is the day I take it off the road :(

If you're going to try drifting in the snow, make sure you've got damn good steering control. I got it sideways a couple times but the open diff catches up and slings you the other way, or you'll end up ploughing in to the fence of whoever lives on the corner. Had that once... Missed the fence by about 2 inches.

I've got motorcycle loading down to an art now. My Fazer will go straight in and out of the back by myself. Same with my Virago too. As long as the bike is 47 inches tall or lower, it won't hit the roof and go straight in. Drop the ramp, get a good run up and roll it straight up and in. Recovered one of my mates twice, once on his CBR125 and once on his MT07 (tallest bike I've had in there, 48 inches tall and the mirror dragged along the roof). Had my Fazer in the back at least 6 times and the Virago about 4 times.

I know the feel about moving from a BMW to the Elgrand. Selling mine was a sad day and continues to be sad days in weather like this. Could drift it with it's open diff like it was effortless, it was low, good looking, comfortable and overall thoroughly enjoyable. All the van's got going for it for me is the practicality and the engine. The next Elgrand I own will have looks and technology on top of that as well but it will never have the handling of my old BMW or even the MG I just scrapped.

Yesterday I received the RCA cable and panel (cheers @stevemen) and today I received a spoiler from a Sierra sapphire cosworth for the princely sum of £50 including postage, not sure it's going to fit an Elgrand as I can't find accurate measurements of the Elgrand spoiler online but we will try.

Now, I just need an Elgrand 😂
