What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Took the Elgrand for a spin with the Mrs & dog, then went down to Barry Island (for Englanders, think Gavin and Stacey :) )

Pic of the Elgrand, looking large and in-charge, parked up at (outside) the train station not too far from me (I don't park near anyone if I can)

Then got the train to Barry Island

I found time and good weather (wind finally not blowing in from the North Sea) to replace the NSF wheel bearing.

While I was there I discovered the CV boot was torn, so I replaced that while I was at it, thankfully I had 5 spare 😀

Wow that's a lot of Bilt Hamber products buddy!
I have the speed wax which is amazing!
Your Elgrand looks insane buddy!!!
Of there's I use the cleaner fluid (like a panel wipe)

and iron remover, Korrosol

This weekend, cleaned up DVD screen control switch panel, removed the rubberised coating with oven cleaner. Looks better than it did.
Added button to turn off the step light, when the side door is open.
Fixed the roof screen (wasn't lowering), replaced with a second hand one that came with the van - now working but have no sound.
Main reason for removing the roof screen was to install a Van-x cab divider curtain rail and curtains. Wanted to get an idea of where best to put the rivets. As it turned out, didn't rivet it at all. Slotted the flat part of the rail behind the roof screen bezel, and cut the rail ends, so that there is a 20mm flat to go behind the side trims. Rail is 1205mm and rail slot is 1165mm. Also bent the rail to match the roof profile and cut the bottom of the curtains to floor level. The material doesn't fray, so didn't need to hem it.

Space for another now?
Would be nice but unlikely. So much easier in the UK to register but could never afford that kind of floor space in the UK, let alone a second Elgrand.

or a shed load of bikes :D
Yeah. Have the Triumph and BMW currently waiting for the concrete to dry, plus a Yamaha scooter, but always on the lookout for a nice two stroke.

@psbeau which model was the cab divider for originally as I don't see the Elgrand listed on the van x website?
They try to make out the curtains are specific to each van but there are probably only two types.
I purchased the VW Caddy Cab Divider Curtain Kit Black/Grey, and very happy with it.
To fix it a bit better, I'll put double sided tape on the rail, where it goes under the screen, and may rivet the flats on the end to the trim panels. I'll also rivet the hold back behind the driver's seat and poppers on both sides.

Pressed hubs into new bearings. Sorted new inner CV boots, after a trip to Bunnings to buy the stupid tool to fasten the different clamps my old CV boot clamp tool doesn’t work on…

Will stitch the front all back together with new brake pads in the weekend if the rain can hold off for half a day or so. Basically finished with the underneath then.

I’m glad I have the basic skills to fudge my way through this stuff courtesy of my misspent youth and I can save myself a bit of coin, but I’m glad I don’t have to do it everyday for a job. Maybe having a hoist would make it more fun.

Things were a whole lot simpler when we just had Escorts, Cortina’s and Morris Minors to keep running. Or in my case air cooled Volkswagens where it was a jack, 4 bolts, a fuel line, throttle cable and maybe a push on electrical connector and the whole engine was out in 10-15mins by myself.
