ElgrandOC Financials - New Treasurers Appointed

The Dr gave me some antidepressants when I first started with it but I didn't want to go down that road so I took them back unopened and told them to update my notes and dispose of them.

But sometimes, grrrrr it drives me fecking mad.

Anyway, I've gone slightly off track there lol.

Shame the subs couldn't be a two-part contribution ie 'I'd like £8 to go towards the running of the forum and £4 to Karl to do with what the hell he likes'
Have you tried TRT?

As someone that has only been around for a month or so but am, and have actively been involved in other (non-related) forums as a moderator, I'm shocked and surprised @Karl as the Forum Administrator (read 'owner') is being asked (and feels the need to respond to) questions about finances.

As noted in previous replies, the £12 is voluntary. Where and how it is spent is irrelevant and none of anyone's business. In fact, in the other Forums alluded to, the 'members fee' actually pays the wages of the Administrator to allow for the site to be run and content to be produced.

Being here and paying money for it is a choice - if you don't like the facts or the rules then go and do one....

Personally I find this place really helpful and welcoming and I hope it lives long and prospers!

Erm WTF. It's 12 quid, voluntary, and good value. Who cares even if the owner did make enough money from the site for a beer or two??

I run a couple of fairly large local FB groups, and the hassle I get from those alone is incredible, so know all too well how stressful it can be.

Have you tried TRT?
I haven't, the majority of the time now I have learned to just get on with it, it's just at certain times I get the spikes and I struggle a bit. What I find helpful is those frequencies on Youtube, listening to a tone over 4000Hz offers some relief.

Doesn't bother me where my 12 quid a year goes. It's a small VOLUNTARY donation to help keep the club running. Even if it went to @Karl for running it all it would be fine by me. I just enjoy taking part in the forum.

But as usual do gooders & nosey, jealous knacker sacks have to stir things up. I'm guessing it stems from fuckbook again.

I understand why you're implementing new procedures just a shame there's a need for it. Keep up the good work.
Totally agree

I never gave it a thought to be honest. Then I don't pay anything anyway so why would I worry? After reading that,I have asked myself would I of had an issue if I did pay anything and the answer would be no I would not. All this information on here, the FB link has saved me time and money. I don't understand the cost of running a website but I know time is valuable. It a shame if someone is saying the money is being used elsewhere. As said, if Karl was to put a hourly rate for the work and time he put into here, ElgrandOC would not be able to afford him.

Wow... Again I see things in this new world of Elgrand, but this is not what I expected.

Confused as to why you have to justify crap like this.

I tried out the 1 month option so I could get information that led to my current van. Still smiling too.

I'm soon to upgrade to the yearly option as the support and resources is fantastic. For 1 quid a month I get learn how not to get ripped off by dealers, how to fix my own stuff or find someone who knows a man who can😉😉

And I get to have plentiful portions of banter and the likelihood of some meet ups in the very near future..

Some peeps don't know they are born 😂

Hi all, as a newbie to the club it disappoints me to read things like this, I’ve been retired now for 5 years after working in industry for 50 years, and I’ve been on every committee you can think of, from Union Rep to Canteen Rep and every thing in between, (you’d be surprised how a grown man can rant about the price of a cup of tea, and what are you gonna do about it). My point is, it’s always the same, they don’t like the way you are doing it, but ask them do they want to step up and have a go themselves, not on your nelly, I’ll just sit here and criticise the way your doing it thanks, makes you sick. Don’t take it personally Mark, these wankers would moan whoever was running things. An American President once said, don’t ask what can my country, do for me, ask, what can I do for my country, substitute country for Club. Keep up the good work. Gezza.

@Karl you and the admin are doing a top job. I have never doubted where my £12 went but knew it would be to support the club.

Thanks for the explanation, I hope it addresses those who obviously have nothing better to do but criticise.

Ending on a positive.

Elgrand OC BEST CLUB EVER !!!!

🤪
(Replace song with club) lol

My take is that the forum is a business owned by Karl, and money should be in his pocket. I don't expect him to have to justify anything. I subscribe to plenty including this forum and it does cross my mind how the fees are spent.

What you did with MY sub I could not care less. The knowledge I have gained and money I have saved by using this forum far outweighs the sub. Keep up the great work and dont let the B'Stards grind you down.

There has been a comment recently around the financials of the club, I think it was more aimed at someone accusing me of pilfering, but regardless of that, this needed to happen in the long run anyway.

So, there is a new system in place for the club finances and I would like to explain that process to you all now, just so that you ALL know that money is NOT being taken by any of the admin team for their own gain, and to show that money gained by the club is going into re-investment in club equipment, running the website etc.

So, 2 treasurers are being appointed. The first of which is @dognero, the second is to be confirmed.

We felt that the treasurers should be active members on the forum, not part of the admin team, and been around for a long time. The two members I have asked are members that I trust implicitly with the funds.

A new PayPal account has been set up by Dognero. None of the admin team have ANY access to this account. None of us have a password or any knowledge of funds available.

Any merchandise sold (stickers, clothing etc) that the club get benefit from will go to the new paypal account which is now STORE@ELGRANDOC.UK

The ONLY exception to this will be when one of the admin team are organising a meet and collecting ticket money, in this instance, all money will be paid to their PERSONAL PAYPAL ACCOUNT. Obviously you will be able to check that ticket fees etc are all correct with the event itself, and assuming you receive your ticket, no profit has been made by the organiser.

PROCESS TO WITHDRAW FUNDS

This is the important bit. For any of the admin team (this includes CLUB REPS), first of all the expense must be discussed within the admin team. Acceptable expenses will be competition prizes, club equipment (banners, marquee, flags, etc), event consumables (charcoal, first aid kits, etc), club stationery (spotted cards, flyers, etc) and merchandise stocking (stickers etc).

Once the expense has been discussed and agreed buy us, the requesting team member must then send a request via PM to both of the treasurers with a description of what the expense is, how much it is, and the paypal address the funds are to be sent to.

Once the purchase has been made, a screenshot of the invoice/receipt must then be sent to the treasurers to prove the purchase has been made. If no receipt/invoice is provided, that team member will be banned from the club.

There are some automatic payments that come out of the club paypal account, these are website hosting fees and URL licence fees.

I really hope that this new process puts member's minds at ease with regards to how the club finances are being used. None of the admin staff of ElgrandOC have ever made money out of the club. But thanks to someone's accusations, there is now MORE work that we will have to do in order to keep things running smoothly.

I will say now that if there is any more backlash surrounding this, any more accusations or any more aggro given to me over how the club is ran, I will turn it all off. Because I am completely 100% totally at my whit's end with regards to the stress running this place gives me.

If I do get to that point and the resource is something that people do not want to lose, I will SELL ownership of the forum to someone else and pass the stress onto them. But that discussion can be held at a later time IF it comes to that. I've put countless hours into setting this place up, and for accusations such as this to be thrown at me makes me sick. Even if I had ever taken money from the club, it could never be enough to compensate for the hours put in and the abuse I've received.

Feel free to discuss.
Such a shame you have had to explain yourselves, however always best to cover your backs, especially when disgruntled people try to cause trouble.

Keep up the good work Team EOC

Sounds like all the trouble comes from Facebook side. Answer is delete it! Facebook is lame and attracts idiots. Forums are always politer and more refined.

My take is that the forum is a business owned by Karl, and money should be in his pocket. I don't expect him to have to justify anything. I subscribe to plenty including this forum and it does cross my mind how the fees are spent.
This is my take on it too
I personally don’t care where my £12 went to but what I do know is someone is having to pay for server space for the forum, updates to software, software licences, a decent computer to put it all together, electricity to power it and that’s not even getting to time and effort put in and insurance to enable the club to attend shows etc.

Karl. You should take it as a compliment that some brainless idiot is jealous enough to point accusations like that. I can only assume that this has generated from something from Facebook as I haven’t seen anything from anyone one on here.
Those that are the paid up members on here know the truth of this.

I lurked on here for almost six months with full access to the forums at no cost to me. Who has covered the cost of this.

In short whoever has accused you of something like that is a complete cockwomble. You should keep a dossier of all these accusations and if they keep coming from the same group of people present it to the boys in blue. They take thing like this pretty seriously now.

As mentioned in lots of other posts,my contribution is voluntary, and has been repaid many times over in help and advice and the general good will of the other members, I could care less where that money goes, and will happily renew next year, don't let them grind you down guys,l'm sure you have the complete support of the vast majority of the members here, keep up the good work.👍👍👍

Just like having a nice motor, some depressed psycho comes along and scratches if from end to end.
Actually drove up the road the other day, and some nutcase had smashed in 25 windscreens..

Guess what karl. There is always someone out there that is always jealous. Also think the grass is always greener. You are doing a great job mate.
Best thing to do is invite those who are spouting off and give them a shot for a while. If you've seen auf wiedershen pet. Classic line from oz always works.
(ah bollocks man) 😆😆
Keep up the good work mate

Bugger so you had to cancel the flights and the deposit on the island hide away?

I'm sure I've said it before you SHOULD be taking a salary from the club, mind it wouldn't keep you polish!
