Yes my S3 has the heated part of the screen where the wiper blade sit and it comes on automatically with the heated rear screen button is pressed. Also the heated mirrors

My S1 has a separate button on the dash forward of the drivers right knee for the front screen wiper area but the mirrors are heated when the rear window is heated. At least I think (pretty sure) the front screen wiper area doesn't get heated unless I press the separate button, can tell with alternator load and, well, with the way the front screen defrosts if I do/don't press the other button when the screen is icy.

Good man. I've just gone and looked again and yes, mine also got the 'heater lines' up the driver side of the windscreen as well, as indicated in that manual pic dognero screen shot^

Not meaning to go around in circles, but that DON'T seem to require that separate rocker switch by the knew which 'some' with the cold weather pack have? As I said, mine is like the one you linked in the manual. Got the windscreen heater lines where they indicated, but no switch like the one below, just must be operated via the rear window one

That's the one (the yellow one) which will auto dip the mirrors when you go into reverse. If yours don't do that, it'll be in the 'off' position. Next time you get in it, flip it and go into reverse. The side mirrors will dip.

Yes I turned that switch to off just after I got my Elgrand, I hated the dipping mirrors.

Why do you think there’s a heated section vertically up the screen? For the non-OCD types who happily turn off the ignition with the wipers mid-swing 😁?

Yeah mine has a horizontal line lower down. I don’t think heated mirrors normally have a visible element anyway - think they just heat up from behind.

There's an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they get a replacement heated windscreen made by a firm in the Newcastle area. IRC there was a heater element at the bottom and possibly the top as well.
Unfortunately I can't remember the firms name or the make and model of the car.
 
Well, shedding 1% further light on the issue, a few hours ago I visited Colin Prices' place to see the service guy about booking it in. Whilst there I looked at five '07 plate onwards Elgrands (S3s), and not a single one of them had the windscreen elements by the wipers/up the driver side.
So with maybe certainty, if you've those elements on your front windscreen, you've luckily got the 'cold pack' and if you haven't got the dedicated rocker switch, you've still got the same pack, just operated via the rear window demister switch.
 
So Bal was right after all- the cold pack is activated via the rear window demist button.

Just got van back from the garage, and been looking at the black line on the mirrors. Doesn't seem to have a blind spot effect to me...and wouldn't it more likely be a vertical section at the far end of each mirror, rather than a horizontal section at the bottom of the mirror? Confused about mirrors now... o_O

the lines on the mirrors line up with the end of the vehicle and the kerb (well it does on mine):cool:

Oh right - so if you reverse towards a kerb, the line is supposed to show you when the kerb is lined up with your back bumper or something?

So that's these mirror guides, a kerb camera, a 360 camera and a wing mounted parking mirror. Do the Japanese have problems parking?!?

its just a guide try not to over think it park how you normally do away from a kerb then check to see how they match up
