We initially intended on getting a Toyota vellfire, but after seeing the space in the Elgrand we jumped in head first and got a 2.5 E51 from colin price. Happy so far, but really noticed it drinking fuel. And that's coming from me who daily drives an audi s5 which i like to drive rather spiritdly hah
 
we were also looking at the vellfire,s we also went to colin price cars to look at one but when he showed as the seating arrangments in the Elgrand we were sold on one, its due to arrive in september cannot wait
 
Just put a deposit down on a 2008 Highway Star 3.5 this weekend. First UK owner so figuring out all the standard stuff I'm going to need to fiddle about with like the Japanese-to-English stickers and translation CD, amongst other things...

Have also seen modified tailgate struts on eBay that are supposed to give an extra 8 inches of tailgate opening - has anyone fitted these and are they legit in what they claim to offer? I'm 6' 2" and noticed when viewing the car that I was needing to duck under the tailgate towards the bottom of it despite it appearing to be at the limit of the strut travel, so thinking that will be one of my first mods if it works without issue.
 
Can’t comment on the quality of the eBay ones but the mod is def worth doing.
I supported the door with a trolley jack and length of wood, then jacked it slightly to suit new ones. Be careful, it is very heavy.

Mine definitely still looks like the first of your two photos there even with the new struts, not convinced they are any higher than the OE ones but at least it opens willingly and holds itself up now... Might get the ones you refer to next time but other jobs to sort out first (like the screenwash bottle that seems to be leaking...) and trying to figure out what some of the aftermarket switches on my one do...
 
E50. It’s starting to suffer from rust, but I’ll keep it going for a bit longer! so useful
 
E51 2.5 here, love this beast just wish I was better at helping it live longer
 
We have finally got our hands on a white e51 s3 3.5 he's and it's bloody great.... Fuel consumption on the hand...... :sob: however still the best family motor we've purchased!
 
First Elgrand was a silver 2003 S1 E51 back in 2015. Traded that on in early 2023 for a G30 Mystic Black 2007 S3 Rider. Great daily family cars
