WHAT THE FUCK???!!!!

13mm spanner i got no 10mm who knew there was so much wire for 6 switches and yes there is a blue spliced to a red and some switches have a negative feed and some have a live feed i think i need a bigger fire extinguisher or a @lastempy :scream::scream:

I'll be visiting at the end of November.

Well, just went passed the temporary traffic lights with the dog, as discussed the other day. Of the seven waiting cars EVERY ONE of the 'drivers' on their phones, lighting up the cabin like close encounters. Including a 'mother' happily on her phone with a her baby in a bolster seat and youngsters in the back.

Bring back hanging......the cars were stationary too, disgraceful behaviour.

I know. But 6 points and £200 fine (as in the law), plus ~ 50% insurance premium increase would be good for a start. And what a 'mother' eh?

What "grips my shit" is people crossing the road with pushchairs and prams while looking at their phones, not just drivers who are knobheads.......

I was told to stuff a rag in the air box inlet pipe, (starve it of oxygen) but I ain’t going anywhere near a runaway diesel, other than running away.
Aye, if you're brave enough and have time to block the tubby inlet pipe :)

If you have a manual box , and I guess a replacement trans is cheaper than an engine
Yes it'd have to be a manual box, it wouldn't damage the manual box though... I meant dip the clutch, put it in 5th gear and let the clutch out. You could do that while parked up or driving, in both cases apply the foot brake to prevent the car from moving to stall the engine. Ahh you might mean you could damage an automatic gearbox by overheating it?

Talking of runaway diesels.....😬

I was about 40 miles from home when i stopped for fuel in my Delica, I turned off the ignition and the engine carried on running.

I had the keys in my hand whilst looking under the bonnet feeling slightly bemused.🙃

I thought of many options including some stupid ones, like reversing it up to a wall and stalling it....an automatic. 😆

Any who i decided to drive it home and if it ran out of fuel i wouldn't have to force stop the engine.💡

I got home and it was still running.....

I got a 10 mm spanner and took the bleed valve bolt out of the fuel filter primer housing and eventually the engine spluttered to a stop through fuel starvation and sucking air into the pump.

The reason it did this in the first place was a failed fuel stop solenoid on the diesel pump, the rubber stopper on the end of the solenoid had disintegrated leaving the pump feed hole permanently open.

This was a very strange feeling having your van running whilst you have the keys in your hand and no obvious way of turning it off.🫣

This was the culprit----

Same could happen on most diesels that use a conventional mechanical pump, I've fixed a few Peugeot's etc with the same problem (luckily manual gearboxes so could just stall the engine).

Could argue that one of the reasons diesel evolution went the common rail route was so ECUs/computers would need to be involved to run the injection system thus giving diesels the same kind of anti-theft properties as chip in key petrol immobiliser setups on petrol injection engines... If the computer doesn't like the chip in the key it will refuse to send injection pulses so there's no chance the engine could be hotwired - Before that any diesel could be started by applying power to the fuel shut-off solenoid, maybe glow plugs and a momentary touch to the starter solenoid, a diesel with a mechanical injection pump doesn't need any electronics to run. There was a time from around the mid 90's to around 98 when most new petrol cars were difficult to nick because they needed computers to run the injection system but diesels had mechanical injection pumps, they had to do something about that to make diesels less nickable. But moving from mechanical injection pumps to electronic diesel injectors wasn't necessarily a good thing for diesel reliability, components like electronic injectors are under a lot more stress on a diesel than on a petrol engine.

At the time of moving from mechanical injection pumps to electronic injection systems on diesels manufacturers didn't hype the less nickable aspect of the electronic injected models, instead they hyped the better performance / mpg, but I reckon one of the main reasons for the change was nickability and the mandate that all 98 onward cars had to have chip in key security. Got to wonder if further evolution of mechanical injection systems would have seen performance and economy close to that of electronic injected models (but still be relatively easy to nick because still not need any electronics to run the engine). Don't want to bang on about LPG but one of the main reasons for better economy from electronic injection systems was better atomisation of the diesel into engine cylinders, smaller droplets of diesel leading to more of the diesel burning inside the engine cylinders instead of going out of the exhaust as particulates... Adding a bit of LPG to the air entering a diesel engine helps the diesel droplets to burn more completely, so can really clean up emissions and improve fuel economy (and power) on an old diesel engine (because more of the injected diesel burns inside the cylinders instead of going out the exhaust as particulates and also helps increase the burn speed). Can do the same on a modern cleaner diesel engine but has better effect on an older diesel because older diesels were dirtier and less efficient than modern ones in the first place.

Sarcasm lost? :D

I hear police are looking for people who played cricket on a motorway, apparently one of them got his phone out...

The only righteous person in the entire scene is that bloke on the bridge in the distance watching the cricket and looking into every vehicle to see if anyone glances at their phone screen...
