What have you done to your Elgrand today?

I bought it lol! My old faithful XL which we've had for 11 years has been diagnosed with a timing chain issue, really gutted as we'd just spent £1000ish on a full service, brakes and new tyres. Literally driven less than 200 miles since then! I can't find anyone local prepared to take the job on. One guy quoted £1500 -£1800 but I could tell he didn't want the job. I can understand this as he is a one man operation and my usual garage and the Hampshire Elgrand Workshop wouldn't take it on. We noticed a local Elgrand owner/friend was now parking his in the street due to a camper van in his drive my wife saw him and asked if he was selling it, he was and it's now ours! 2004 Highway Star with Outback conversion, really straight car just needs a good polish/detail as the paint is a little bit flat. We'll miss the 'carry anything in the back' aspect of the standard Elgrand due to the conversion but hope to offset that with the usefulness of the Outback kitchen when attending horse shows with my son and grandson. The Elgrand journey continues lol!

Had a leak somewhere in my E52 that caused the driver side footwell to be drenched in water. After a bit of googling I determined it was the sun roof drain. So after multiple attempts to unclog it I bought an endoscope to look closer and realised the drain pipe had disconnected from the sun roof adapter.

Got this refitted but now it wouldn't drain which meant removing it again and trying to clean out the hose with a pipe cleaner and a siphon pump. Loads of gunk came out but when I filled the pipe with water still wouldn't drain so I applied some "light air pressure" and I either blew out the dirt or popped the filter at the bottom of the line. Either way the sun roof now drains at a good rate and I just need to figure out the best way to dry out a soaking car.

Get a Lidl dehumidifier and run it with windows closed for a couple of days then use it in the house. About £40 I think.
 
Bit of a service done yesterday/today:
  • Engine Oil + Filter (Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 + Bosch Filter)
  • New transmission filter and fluid (Millers Oils XF Premium ATF)
  • Rear cabin filter
  • Aux belts
Next on the hit list is tail strut replacement and probably new tyres.

Speaking from experience recently with the tailgate struts, don't waste your time with the £40-ish SGS ones unless you like cracking your head on the not-fully-open tailgate, just buy the £60 ones from JDM...
 
Managed to bag some second hand winter tyres/wheels for a great price at the weekend and now I finally got around to fit them.
Gave them a good DA polish before fitting and very happy with how they came up! Now just to wash the Elgrand that hasn't been done in over a month!

Yeah that was my plan after seeing some posts, simpler just to pay the little bit extra
 
Took the old girl for the MOT today and passed with flying colours again.
For anyone contemplating front cat change here’s my results, front @Elementian cats , eqaual length stainless rear de cat pipes and power flow there after

Decided I’d set out to swap in coilovers this weekend. Am a novice and it’s definitely taken me longer than expected, still halfway through doing the rears!
