Just had this package delivered today from Brian (BMR) and a bit more interesting than the normal spares. Packed to perfection as always.
And to think that when I bought my Elgrand I told my wife that I was not going to mod it and it was just going to be a cheap and cheerful rear camper conversion for odd weekends away which lasted about as long as it took to research the options and decide that none of them really suited what I wanted and I thought that I could do it myself more to my tastes.
Even then if it were not for this forum all might still have ended well but even with my Elgrand still on the boat from Japan I was buying bigger wheels, head unit, throttle controller, K&N filter, LED lights and various other bits and planning others.
Must stop buying now and concentrate on getting the bits that I have already bought sorted and fitted although I have got my eye on a very nice vintage old school 4 channel power amp to run some extra speakers in the rear of the camper conversion that if I can get it for a good price I might well be tempted with
As regards the Impreza scoop I have not sprayed it yet as I have had another play with it and not convinced I can get it to sit right on the Elgrand bonnet without taking the complete ridge out on the intake and as this will also mean either losing the vertical bars or finding a way to put them back in and is quite a bit of work as I will have to cut out about 10mm to 15 mm of the front intake lip all long the bottom and also part way up the sides of the intake and then refinish it.
I think on the original fitting on the Impreza this ridge is designed to sit within the bonnet cutout which means the whole scoop sits more flush.
Before doing this I have ordered a similar style of scoop from aliexpress which I had considered before buying the Impreza scoop but had decided against as it is approx 220 mm shorter and 40 mm wider being 400mm x 280mm and also looks as though it has a steeper slope on the rear which I was not so keen on and I thought that the Impreza scoop size and longer and narrower shape better suited the Elgrands bonnet.
As its only a fiver I have decided that I would order it any way and see how it looks before doing any more work on the Impreza scoop.
Most likely not so well made as the Impreza scope which has a metal support all around the vent and the vertical bars are also metal but this is part of what makes it more difficult to fit as these also make it more rigid.
Another option on Aliexpress is a smaller version again which I had also looked at previous but discounted as it is almost square being 250mm x27.6 mm but this might work as a last resort but will try the one I have ordered first.
Possibly not all lost with the Impreza scoop even if I don't end up using it on my Elgrand as my wife has said she thinks it could look good on her silver 650i which if I did go that way I would be inclined to have it hydrodipped in carbon effect to save having the whole bonnet sprayed.

With the weather being cooler and the first frost here, the Elgrand has not been starting as smoothly as it would on pure petrol so I've adjusted the cold start enrichment on the E85 control unit which seems to have done the trick as it burst into life as normal this morning following the adjustment. We'll see how it goes, but can easily pump some 98RON in there if need be.
Had an Impul ecu in mine for a few years. Not really noticed much difference tbh, but I drive quite conservatively, so maybe no gains at low throttle...

When I swapped out my Bravery Corporation ECU for the Impul one I noticed that the low end power was not as strong on the Impul, otherwise no difference. Never had a standard ECU so can't comment on that. Having said that, the Impul seems to give better mpg by a small margin so may swap back to the Bravery one now I'm on alcohol.

Basically my heating has sucked forever. Ive bled it flushed it bled again and it only every helped a tiny bit but then faded to nothing again....today i borrowed this machine that has been brought out for kia and hyundai evs due to there coolant crystalising in pipes and clogging up. It continually flushes the pipes while filtering the fluids and removing any blockages etc. Ran for ages and its definitely done a job!!!
How funny you post this... today I was just thinking how sh*t my heating is in the Elgrand for 32 degrees C.
How do others feel as mine is only lukewarm warm when on full blast!

Something like this will be night and day for you.
Ive went through countless 12v heaters to be able to defrost my window i even priced up a diesel heater recently and was tempted to just scrap the car at one poiint. But alas i have heating that would melt.your face off and im very happy

Just as a point of reference not a recommendation, I’ve had over a tonne in my E51 several times, only a 30/40 mile journey but it drove fine and no after effects. If you think about it, it’s a seven seater, seven average Japanese men would weigh more than 440kg, stick a sumo in shotgun and it’s over a tonne. I’d deffo protect the floor with something to spread the weight mind
Possibly thermostat buddy? Fitted a brand new one and gasket on the silver Elgrand engine, I wonder whether it would be okay to pinch?!

Stuck open it could cause low heat yes as the engine won’t really reach proper temp.
As for pinching the new one I personally would still want to test it before fitting ( is it worth the work)
