What do you have on your TV AUX

The phono panel is on the side panel just behind the middle row of seats drivers side.
Thank you @LeStempy I will have a look tomorrow to see if I can find it. We now have the system working in English and have bluetooth calls and music streaming so things are moving forward.

The three RCA sockets may have the original black cover pushed into them making them less obvious.

I hooked up a firestick to the RCA leads under the rear seats with a hdmi converter. Picture isn't the best mind. But I changed the original stereo for an android double din and now when I plug in the firestick there is no sound when the front screen is on and only comes on when I lower the second screen. 🤦

Thats because the audio from the RCA's is not routed back into the new HU.

Is this a simple plug in job or does it require a level of knowledge of what you are doing?

It's plug and play. One end goes into the aux input of the HU and the other end connect to the 8 pin DIN cable that comes from the image distributor and would have plugged into the original HU.

I think I will have to go back to the guy that fitted the HUD. I took a photo of the unit and it looks as that lead was with the HUD, I hope they fitted it as they never returned any leads back to me.

While I'm going back to the HUD fitter, would anyone have an idea on the following -
1- Can the existing screens be integrated with the HUD?
2- Can the existing steering wheel controls also be integrated with the HUD. The HUD has settings for steering wheel controls but there is mention of a CANBUS(??)
3- I noticed during the hot weather recently that the HUD would reboot, I'm assuming this was due to overheating. There is a fan on the HUD which hasn't been connected. Was there a fan on the original stereo and can the HUD fan be connected as well?

I would appreciate any advice as I don't want to be fobbed off by the fitter on these matters which I don't fully understand. Thanks.

You won't be able to see the Elgrand screens on the new HU.

Steering wheel controls can be used but may need an interface depending on make and model.

The original radio has a cooling fan. The fan should be connected internally and not need separate connection.

Thanks for replying.
I had a feeling about the screens. Are there generic wireless screen alternatives that can link to the HUD and firestick, although the HUD doesn't screen mirror with anything 😡.

Any idea about the interface for the steering wheel controls? Is that the make and model of the HUD or for the Elgrand?

Steering control should be an additional/alternative loom then you can open up the steering control settings on the head unit (HU) and teach it what the buttons do by telling it what buttons you are pressing so it can save the settings.

Some HU's have a learning facility so can connect directly to the Elgrand steering controls but those that don't need an extra interface box to convert the Elgrand signals to ones they can understand. The manual should tell you what you need.

Again, depending on the spec of HU there may be video, audio and/or HDMI inputs to directly connect external equipment.

Right I've done some searching and none the wiser, I'm trying to get the screens to mirror the head unit. got an all singing alpine ilx-w690d with hdmi input and a 6in1 hub arriving so can hook up to phone, and a Japanese plug so I can hook up an Xbox one s (the old one). Do I need an RCA adapter or not as the radio takes hdmi directly and can then repeat onto other screens? Swc would also be nice but I believe that is more wiring... I got my pivot working so I'll be happy as the driver but the kids may get bored! Help please!

That head unit will not mirror all screens. It will only send video playback of the video player. It's generally the more complex android head units that can do full mirroring.

So no way to mirror maps up onto the front screen as is? I think I've ordered enough bits to have a quick play next Saturday, watch this space

What series do you have out of interest?

The Alpine unit you mention has a video output on a pigtail by the looks of it. But as mentioned above, it may only output video content rather than the screen graphics. You'll need to feed that video output into the Elgrand aux video input in the back of the wagon. The video output of the Alpine will need to be set to NTSC if there's an option in the menu, otherwise you will need a PAL to NTSC converter. If you then set the Elgrand TV input to VTR you'll see whatever content the unit decides to output.
