"Tractor" diary. Elgrand from Siberia. E50.

How many rubles = £1 or $1?
Because of sanctions, the currency exchange rate fluctuates significantly. But the life of an ordinary Russian citizen like me (not an oligarch, oil magnate, or other "elite") doesn't depend on foreign currency. We have our own primary raw materials. Fuel prices and availability are stable, but I'm talking about Siberia. There are some minor glitches in Western Russia, but they were already fixed within a week.

I like it looks neat 👌
Thanks, but I did the trunk lining a little crooked. It was the first part, and it's my first time doing it.
Now I'll start working on the right side, and I'll have some left over to redo the rear left trunk.
I wanted to point out that the almost 30-year-old velour, considering the van has been used harshly for the last 10 years, has held up beautifully; it's very thick and dense. I washed the old velour, cleaned it, and put it away, but I don't know why.
I'm actually currently working on taking the van out of the truck category and making it a comfortable van again.

I made a deal with my wife: I'm building her a workshop (she does ceramics), and I can buy any old-school JDM instead. I hope everything works out.

Hi.
Vibration, go away!!
So, the crankshaft pulley and new oil seal are installed. There's a slight vibration at idle, or rather, slightly below idle, when stopped at a traffic light on the D.
QD32ETI engine mounts are a particular pain and grief for owners of the El E50 and Terrango R50. In Russia, only original engine mounts exist, and probably worldwide as well. The cost is unreasonable, and the wait time is 30-60 days. I never would have thought it, but my respect goes to Mitsubishi and their 4M41 engine. The engine mounts are also made of hydrogel, have the same dimensions and mounting holes. The price is reasonable, and there are plenty of options, from original to cheap Chinese ones. I'll start installing them soon, and I'll update later.
I also restored the air damper vacuum actuator so that when the engine is turned off, it stops quietly and smoothly, rather than trying to jump out of the hood.
I also adjusted the c.sleev parameter on the fuel injection pump governor, achieving an ideal value of 1.9-2.0V. The strange rocking motion of the car at traffic lights on the "D" position has stopped.
There's a lot of work ahead, namely a complete overhaul and replacement of all engine wiring from the sensors/fuel injection pump to the EFI unit. After that, I'll replace all the wiring from the automatic transmission to the automatic transmission control unit.
I bought 16L of ZIK ATF Multi Dextron; according to the approvals, it's a perfect replacement for Nissan Matic Fluid D. I'll replace it according to the Bible.
Also, I figured out how to implement low-range shifting - I ordered a 12V linear actuator with a force of up to 100 kg in a protective housing.
That's all for now. I don't have any pictures. But as the work progresses, I'll definitely have some.
How did you restore the shut off damper actuator? mine too wants to jump out the hood currently

Hi, friend)First, start the engine, open the hood, and look at the vacuum actuator (the one closest to the radiator) on the choke. Ask someone to turn off the engine, and watch—when you turn it off, the actuator should retract the rod and close the choke. Most likely, it's not closing all the way.
If the actuator works, but just doesn't retract the rod all the way, then:
1. The spring on the choke; just loosen it a little. I secured it with a nylon cable tie.
If the actuator doesn't move, you need to check the vacuum solenoid valves, which are located slightly higher, approximately above the PCV valve. You'll need to check their operation. First, check step 1. Then I'll show you which valves need to be checked.

Greetings.
On Friday, I decided to install the left side of the trim.
I replaced the speakers. I put Hertz Uno X 165 in the front.
I installed Hertz UNO K 165 Kit 2-Way System in the back.
I installed ceiling panels with tweeters, replacing the stock Kenwood tweeters with Hertz ones.
Overall, I was pleased with the sound. The stock Clarion sounded clear, whether it was CDs, cassette tapes, or Bluetooth, but I felt a bit lacking bass. So, for the New Year, I'll ask Santa Claus for an Old School JDM CD stereo Alpine 1999 - 2000 made in Japan!

Greetings.
While I'm getting things done, the tractor is gradually becoming more comfortable, and I'm starting to plan for next year's work.
If things go well, or at least as well as they are now, then- I'm buying an old JDM, a temporary replacement for the tractor for the season. My plans include a Nissan Datsun with a TD27, from 1988 to 1995.
- I'll be completely disassembling the Elgrand next spring – removing the interior, windows, engine, and transmission.
For what purpose?
While removing the interior trim, I noticed traces of body repairs from the previous owners; the metal inside looked very bad.
So I'll be ordering new body parts and replacing them, then a full paint job and reassembly.

Bike rack.
To facilitate access to the trunk, and later to build and install a camping module like Campal, the bike rack will have a rotating mechanism to the right, like the spare tire mounts on old SUVs.

In the meantime, I'll start replacing the fabric upholstery on the right side.I still need to think about the color scheme for the seats and the ceiling.

Thanks Matthew, but what I'm doing with the van is a necessity. I can't afford anything new like the Elgrand right now, and there are no other new equivalents.
But of course, I want to keep this car; it's been incredibly helpful for me for a long time, having been converted into a truck.
Now I want to restore it to a comfortable and pleasant van, keeping only the suspension lift and wheels. I want to keep the original Japanese interior and options, like I installed the original Japanese radio and CD changer.

Hi. I'm providing a link to my disk with scans of brochures for various cars – welcome, I'll update it periodically.
I've recently started collecting brochures in electronic format. I've found people in Russia who order these brochures from Japan;
I'll buy the originals and try to upload them. For now, I'm planning to buy brochures for my beloved Nissan Safari, a 160 with an SD33 engine (the ancestor of the legendary TD42, an inline-six diesel) and a mechanical winch. I plan to buy one someday (most likely restore it, as there aren't any left in Russia; redneck tuning and large wheels have mostly destroyed their historical and aesthetic value).
