Red car with key symbol flashing in the dash

Mine beeps rapidly for a few seconds and the key light on the dash lights up if I have the fob in my pocket as I walk away from the car and leave it unlocked.
I assume it's to remind me to lock it.
Same happens but with a different series of beeps if I switch off the ignition and I've left the sunroofs open.

I think you get a beeping if you exit the car, ignition off but gearstick not in Park.

Can't be sure of exact permutation of things, but just something to consider.

If you don't put it in Park, the key won't turn all the way to off - which will result in beeping.

Hi guys,just reading this thread, winter time my battery went flat as I wasn't using the van but laid up to convert it, anyway battery died wouldn't charge so have fitted new battery today, now the ignition won't turn to start the van, red key symbol flashing red etc etc, it's as if the van isn't detecting the key, the van won't lock with the fob but will open as in ....indicators flash,any ideas guys.
 
Try a new battery in the fob

I would take it straight back to where you bought it and get your money back.
 
Immobiliser, try a new battery in ur fob n see if the locks and alarm will work, failing that uve got issues I think.

I have th same issue. Changed fob battery. And no change. Came here for help

Did u change car battery and fob battery
 
Take the key out of the fob and use it in the ignition barrel.
 
What does your fob look like - rectangular or rugby ball.
 
Or a headless chicken....
 
I have the same issue. My battery went flat the other day. Got it jump started, now there is a constant beeping noise with the red key light showing and key in middle. It goes off once the ignition is on, but beeping and flashing light stays on even when locked.

Its not the key fob as have two and does the same if I unlock with either. Also checked sunroof and all doors, everything shut.

I'm thinking to disconnect the battery to reset, but worried it would loose the key fob code if I do that. Any more ideas?
 
You should not if at all possible jump start an Elgrand. Electronics are sensitive. I would get the battery checked out and replace if need be. Disconnecting it won't effect your keyfobs.
