Yes, I would have thought so.Thanks. Is it possible to use the rear vents with the aircon turned off?

Thank youYes, if the Aircon is off you can blow ambient air through the rear vent but the air intake is internal so won't be fresh outside air like the front.
May I ask who you had to do the work as I am in Norwich pleaseI've had the rear blank from BMR fitted for about 1 year and never had a problem. I even removed the rear heater entirly and all pipe work to make space for other goodies. I will probably fit a gas heater in that space to use only when stationary.
Where does this blank fit pleaseI've recently had the blank from Brian (BMR) fitted after more than a year without being able to use the aircon because of the leak at the rear.
The mechanic said it was easy to fit.
I took it for a re-gas and they tested for leaks and re-gassed with 0.6litres and I drove home in comfort on a day where the temp was nearing 30.
A week later and all is well.
Thank you Brian.
The local aircon "specialist" backheeled the job because he said it would lake far too long to do because he would have to remove half the engine and then he'd have to make a blank....
Lazy Wassock!
Why not ask me?
Where does this blank fit please
BMR does a blanking plate especially for this @BMRMy E51 is 05 reg and a fantastic workhorse. It’s had its problems like camshaft sensors going, but recently it has been pretty good. Then I noticed since we’ve had nice weather that the aircon wasn’t cold anymore. I took it to my local garage. They said they tested it fine, recharged it, I drive home fine. Next day nada! So back at the garage, they said yes we found a leak in the pipe going to back. It cost £790 + VAT plus labour. So I say, OK why not just blank off the front system pipes to the rear. They said they didn’t know how to do that. So now I’m stuck with no air conditioning with summer coming in.
Is there anyone who can help me with a fix like shutting off the rear system so at least I’ve got cool up front. I’m not into doing it myself at my age any more, so need help please. Is there an Elgrand specialist who can help please. BTW I’m in Chichester, West Sussex. Thanks in anticipation.
You can blank off the rear with the adapter available from BMR. Check out the partner site links drop down menu.My E51 is 05 reg and a fantastic workhorse. Yes, if you have lost the refrigerant the system won't work.I clipped a rock with my exhaust while reversing and it bent the resonator mounting hook which then later in a separate incident went through one of the refrigerant pipes. Loud pop and green stuff spraying all over the ground.
Does this mean that I have no cold aircon in back and front now?
I had read that they ran in separate loops but did notice that the pipe ran across to the drivers side then towards the front.Yes, if you have lost the refrigerant the system won't work.
Johnny - I have an E52 with no aircon (seemingly rear pipe corrosion). Would be grateful if you could give me any details of a fix/fixer - especially if it's north of the border.I have an e52 with a burst pipe at rear.
Anyone managed to crimp an air con pipe without using the bmr tool and just weld it shut.?
I ordered the blanking kit from Brian (BMR). Took it to my garage, they said they could fit it. All done now; no air con in the back but it’s arctic up front. Job’s a good in. Thanks Brian and my garage.I can vouch for the blank from BMR. Mine's worked well for a few years now.
Yeah e51 is OK it's the e52 no one has made one for yetI ordered the blanking kit from Brian (BMR). Took it to my garage, they said they could fit it. All done now; no air con in the back but it’s arctic up front. Job’s a good in. Thanks Brian and my garage.
