E50s (and maybe diesels in particular)

Hello. I have an E50 with a 3.2 diesel.
It's a timeless engine. I use it in harsh conditions, down to -50°C. Fuel consumption with proper maintenance is 10 liters per 100 km on the highway and 12 liters per 100 km in city driving in the summer with air conditioning. In winter, at -40°C to -50°C, with warm-ups, I don't count the consumption; it's enormous, but winter is winter. I've even left it running for days.
The 3.2 is an incredibly reliable engine. It has a cast-iron block, cast-iron head, and timing gears. The fuel injection pump is mechanical, so there's nothing to break. The only downside is the fuel injection pump control unit, but it's easy to repair yourself; I've done it many times. You can also buy a new or used one.
The automatic transmission, like the 3.2 engine, is as reliable as an AK-47.

P.S.
The mileage is about 670,000km (maybe more, it's long history)without engine repairs. I only replaced the governor on the fuel injection pump and the turbo, water pump.

@ELSib yes that's the kind of impressive reliability I'm looking for.👍......how long did the two catalytic converters last?

Nah mate. That's wrong it's a standard fixed price for tax on these, same price as the petrol versions £325 for the year I think at the moment
I'm afraid not !!!! just taxed mine yesterday £360 🙁

.....and to add to what was said earlier about optimistic valuations there's an e50 diesel on eblag atm at £4k....current MOT failure on corrosion ...and the added bonus of an moT history showing 7 years of corrosion advisories ...it's also shown in photos strapped to the back of a trailer 😀😀 ....Really 🤩🤩

yeah ive seen that, i think they are dreaming at that price 😳

I've had loads .
I run a neo as a work vehicle. Has been great so far.but if the fuel pump goes .it'll write off.
If your not doing big mileage.buy model and buy on condition

how much should I be selling mine for with all the bodywork and corrosion fully restored, and full mot? i was asking £2200

@deanl55 exactly 😀 ...at that pricing you should be at £10k...it's a modern classic after all 🤔

There's one on FB that was my brothers. I know he bought it cheap. And has then put it up for over double .but for 2500 it's a good buy
