Right then guys and gals... in phpbb I had to turn the attachment feature off (direct posting pictures to forum). The only options were "on for all" or "off for all".
With Xenforo, this has changed. I can select which groups are able to upload direct to forum.
Uploading files takes up server space. Server space costs money. Money doesn't make itself. So, I've had a bright idea to help fund the forum and to make things a little easier for you all.
Direct attachments are OFF for all user groups except Admins, Moderators and Premium Members. This means, if you want to be able to upload directly to the forum without having to use photobucket, you will have to pay the membership fee (currently £12). That's £1 a month.
What this means is that if you want to make life easier for yourself and use the direct to forum upload tool, you need to fund the server space that will be required to do that. Seems fair to me.
If you don't want to part with your hard earned cash, then you will have to do things as we did in phpBB, and load your pictures to a photo hosting site and link them to the forum.
But, I have to say, adding pictures straight to posts without having to use a third party is really easy, and for the sake of £12, you support the club and make things easier for yourself
