WHAT THE FUCK???!!!!

Don't know what it's like elsewhere in the world but the Trumpification of the middle east has caused panic buying at the fuel stations here in the land of Asterix. Prices are through the roof and many stations have run out of petrol. Diesel is easier to come by but has gone past 2€ per litre at many forecourts. Happily for me E85 is still readily available as is LPG, neither of which seem to have been hit by the price hikes as yet.

I was in Costco and people were stocking up on huge packages of toilet rolls, so much that they couldn’t see were they were going…..that’s the only panic buying I’ve seen that’s down to a Trump.
 
I've seen some daft prices for parts and labour and not just on Facebook, also been told about much the same by customers who were going to pay daft quotes before coming to me for a fairer price.

Garages can and do mark up prices to pay overheads etc but that’s disgusting.
Would be taking it further if it were me especially if supplier’s involved

A single mum from over the road asked me if this price was fair - VW Tiguan - so I put BluePrint prices next to the dealer prices……she said the dealer price was plus VAT too.

I did it for the price of the parts…and my wife had her nails done for free.
 
Yesterday...

Had a 1994 VW coachbuilt camper come long distance to me for its 2009 fitted LPG conversion fixing. After a short chat I asked the owner to pop the bonnet then restart the engine but it wouldn't start. After quite a bit of diagnostics to find out why it wouldn't start including checking ignition wires and doing a spark test (no sparks except for a single spark when he released the key back to the run position after being in the cranking position) it turned out that the ignition coil had chosen that exact moment to die, probably because he'd for some reason decided to put the ignition back on while we were chatting which had caused the already well on it's way out coil to finally die. Most suppliers were saying the soonest they could get a coil to me would be this coming Wednesday but I managed to source a new coil for collection locally later the same day. I've since fitted the new coil and fixed the LPG conversion.

My son and daughter in law went away to the Lakes for a few nights, I'm visiting his house to look after their cats. Son messaged me to say Amazon had dropped a parcel off by dropping it over to the garden side of his 7ft high fence between driveway and garden, could I pick it up and leave it in the house when I went to visit the cats? It was dark when I went to see the cats, still in my work clothes, took a work torch because I knew I'd be going in the garden to get this parcel. He'd bolted the 7ft high gate between driveway and garden and I didn't have a key for his rear patio door from the house to the garden... So the only way to get this parcel was to climb over the fence/gate. I moved one of his wheely bins leaving it stood up by the fence and put the other wheel bin on it's side near the fence, used them to climb on top of the fence. Just as I'm about to stride over the fence with my torch the next door neighbour's visitor reversed onto their drive and was alarmed to see me in my work clothes with torch climbing over the fence. She waited in her car until she could see I was fully straddling the fence before getting out of the car to confront me, then I had a bit of explaining to do lol.

There's a food bank about 1/2 mile from me, which i like to walk past to see the lovely motors present. I was only thinking a week or so ago, that I hadn't seen a new '26 plate car to date. I thought I'd go past the food bank as there was as good a chance as any. Bingo, a '26 Land rover Defender with all the trimmings. I'm going to have to start using food banks if i can get motors like I often see owned by the people who then walk out with food.
 
After four and a half years of ownership I have only now realised that all you lot have RHD cars and mine is fucking LHD!
I did query it when I bought it but the dealer assured me that "they are all like that Sir". I reckon it's an export model or something.
Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you on the near continent would like to swap your RHD for it or maybe someone in the UK would like an easy way to get the indicator stalk on the left?

I noticed that on your steering wheel post….but thought it was a camera trick.
