WHAT THE FUCK???!!!!

Here’s a rant:

Where the f**k is all the E5 fuel in Swansea gone? Tesco momentum is harder to find than Jimmy Hoffer. BP ultimate must have lot interest in the UK economy and emigrated to Dubai to persue a career on Only Fans and Shell must have caved under the pressure and gone to live in the sea.

There is no E5 in Swansea. 16 petrol stations i’ve gone to this weekend, not a drop of E5 in any off them. Found LPG and Red diesel but no E5.

Can i use E10 or? 🤔
From what I recall, there is only one refinery left in the UK now. The Grangemouth one was shut down last week.
That would explain the lack of E5 etc.
EDIT: Turns out there are 5 major and 1 minor refineries left now. Grangemouth contributed around 150,000 barrels a day. A significant chunk of the fuel used in the UK.

You can use E10 but regular driving is recommended, you don't want that gnat's piss sitting in your tank for too long before it starts getting eaten by microbes that turn it into water, I am led to believe....

Stanlow??
Just looked it up. I got it wrong. Turns out, there are 5 major and 1 minor refineries left. Grangemouth contributed around 150,000 barrels a day.
It is supposed to be turned into an oil terminal later in the year but its owner has promised lots of things in the past and never come through.

I posted this in 2023....still relevant now.

Whilst on the subject…

I was filling up my van at Tesco with momentum, a petrol delivery tanker pulled up at the adjacent pump and began to fill up.
I thought it was odd that a tanker carrying a zillion litres of fuel couldn’t fuel its own tractor unit it’s self.
I said this to the driver who laughed and said he was only filling up here for his Tesco points which paid for his Christmas shopping.
He noticed the momentum nozzle and said, do you know that stuff is exactly the same as the other one, it comes from the same tank at the depot and goes in the same tanker.
He said it only changes to momentum in the forecourts holding tanks because I add a percentage of Octane booster to that particular tank depending on the amount delivered.
I said really, you’re having me on, he said no, can you recall last year around Christmas time there wasn’t any Momentum anywhere, that was due to there being no Octane booster available.

He had no reason to make it up, but is it true……if so why are we not filling up with cheap fuel and adding our own octane booster just like he is doing but on a bigger scale?

I mainly use mine for the longer trips, so if I have to fill up with the cheaper e10 I shove a bottle of booster in as well ( I have one in the bus)
Since the fuel will be used and not sat for months I don’t have any problem with it and the bus quite likes the experience lol

No way! That’s a brilliant bit of info. Totally agree, he’d have no reason to lie. I might just do that going forward. Just add an octane booster to each fill up.

Thanks for this. Very helpful 👍🏻

If, as the driver of the delivery tanker claimed, it's exactly the same but with Octane booster added that would mean Tesco E10 would actually be E5 🤔

I was recently made redundant and have been waiting on my redundancy money to come through, now been told it will likely be the end of this month so now I need to wait even longer on getting myself an Elgrand!

Went to near Boston to pick up some alloys which were supposedly excellent condition, one was, the rest were kerbed and chipped so a waste of time, five minutes later coming back I hit a hare at about 20mph on a single track road in the middle of nowhere, the first I saw of it was it flying into the verge at about mid windscreen level, I got out and was very relieved that the bumper was undamaged, the hare was in the verge and got up and ran off when I got near it, set off feeling better that both the bus and the hare were reasonably undamaged. Pulled up to have a walk and saw this. (see pic)

Nearside headlight smashed, I didn't see this at first because I looked at hare level, not three foot higher. I looked at the dashcam when I got home and the hare was on for less than one second, ran out in front of the bus, turned and tried to jump back which is why it hit the headlight and not the bumper, temp repair done with superglue and polytunnel tape but need another headlight, so an expensive day out and I didn't even get the alloys :(
