WHAT THE FUCK???!!!!

Exactly this. If they've agreed to do Job X for £Y, then not actually don't Job X, they aren't entitled to £Y, unless there is something explicit in the contract/invoice that allows them to retain a proportion of £Y - in which case you should have been given amply sight of those terms otherwise you can't reasonably have been given due time to consider and be able to agree to them fairly.
Case in point....my employer spent the last six months and thousands on recruitment a new head of department. Offer was made. Offer was accepted. Day before the chap was due to start, claims "family reasons" and didn't rock up. Didn't want to take the kids from current school, a fact that would have been known when they applied for the job, when they interviewed for it, when they accepted it back in August and any multiple points prior to not showing up. Breach of contracts right there.

Yes, and thanks guys, you're right.

After he fobbed me off on the phone again, I have written him an email, outlining everything that has happened, and that i expect a refund, and I will be contacting trading standards and small claims.

I have since repaired the septic tank and drainage with the assistance of some very helpful neighbours.

Cleaning the drain holes at the bottom of the Elgrand's front doors and the key fob falls out of my pocket into the bucket of water!
QUICKLY took the key off, dried as much of the fob as I could with a dry towel, then quickly took it apart and used the dog dryer at a distance and not on a really high heat, to drive out the bit of water in there. Did the same with the battery side. Put it back together and touch wood, still works fine 🤞

I’ve put mine through the washing machine twice. It’s still working. I take it apart, hairdryer and then overnight (or longer) in the airing cupboard

What drain holes may I ask?

At the bottom of the doors. All cars got them. When water hits the side windows, the window seal don't stop all of the water (not all that much really), and it goes 'behind' the door (you can't see this), over a membrane (think plastic sheet) behind the door card, and out of 4 drain holes at the foot of the doors. I just cleaned them around the openings with a detailing brush (looks like a pasting brush). You can poke a cable tie up them, but I didn't bother, as the area all looked clean anyway, and touch wood, l've no water issues.

Behind a car door card will look similar to this (some random image, not an Elgrand). Water passes over this and out the holes at the bottom of the doors. On my NISMO Juke I used to have, both front door membranes perished (that yellowy bit inthe photo is stuck on and over the years can come away, or brake up (look at the top yellow bit in the photo, how it's breaking up). The sign was water drops on the sills in the car after rain.

Okay….so after nearly a year of selling my e51 and enjoying racing a modded diesel on motorway and crying every night missing the space and comfort (yes, recaro seats are nice and so is stiff sport suspension) but I getting older and love a bit of wobbly ride and not caring much about pot holes with huge sidewalls on my tires.

Anyhow, that’s not the point of my rant, yes I will be buying e51 again as my quest to find “good”(ie. Maintained) shape e50 in diesel failed…why?

Because of the “I know what I got” cunts that try to sell you a 30 year old van, that’s rusted to fuck, holes in arches and side skirts, bushes and joints deteriorated, bashed bumpers and grilles etc repaired with wood screws to hold them in place no shit….

Apparently the car “will pass MOT no problem”, you go to gov website to check history and the list goes like that Pass Fail Pass Fail Pass Fail every time the advisories and repair immediately goes longer and longer.

Now the best part - less than a month of MOT or no MOT/Sorned.

But “I’ve done my research! I know what I got”

Really? Fucking really? Good luck in selling this mess - some of these are on marketplace for months - wonder why? “No time wasters” - guess maybe there’s a reason?

I’ve seen quite a few too wrapped in vinyl to cover rust, absolutely mental. Euro 2 van in diesel for circa £3k, 30 years old that needs stripping down basically and rebuilding.

Don’t get me wrong I would be happy to pay £3k for something decent but don’t fool yourself if you’re trying o push an absolute rust bucket held together by wood screws…wholeheartedly GO fuck yourself and enjoy having this mess parked on your driveway for the next 5 years unless your wife will start kicking your arse forcing you to call the breakers.

The DVLA are a bunch of robbing cunts.
Although it might seem tough at times, one must remember that the Gov't knows and wants what's best for us. They wouldn't do it if they didn't care. Like in many aspects of life, if you're unsure of what's best, look to what the Gov't advise. That will provide the correct answer.

So time ago I bough myself a wine bottle for Father’s day and my wife drank it with her friend. 🥲
Replace the word 'wine' with 'whiskey' and much the same thing happened to me several Xmas's in a row. But strangely enough when same people (her mum/dad) bought me books by e.g. Stephen Hawking I got to keep and read the books... where-as other things like Terry's chocolate orange's tend to disappear like whiskey does.

Received the mold reading from the Council after they eventually instructed a mold company to perform some swabs!
These results are after the Summer and living with this sh*t for nearly two years!

Mold measurements (value between 0 and 9)

Yellow labels, municipal space, ground floor,
1, mold value 368
2, mold value 873

Orange labels landlord, 1st floor

1, mold value 33
2, mold value 260
3, mold value 16
4, mold value 1127
5, mold value 7

Another exploding EV. Makes me worried about getting on the ferry or the tunnel.

500 and 40 bastard quid for 2 sets brake discs, pads and one caliper on my £1800 runaround...
Noticed the car sluggish and when I got home could smell burning and the front offside wheel was giving enough heat out you could fry an egg on it....caliper stuck on.

Seemed fine the next morning but thought best to have it checked....turns out caliper jammed on as its fucked and worn through the disc.

They won't just change one disc so needed another for the other side even though there's fuck all wrong with it.

£171 for one caliper!!

Exactly the same last week for the wife’s 208 , full set of brakes, one tyre and they even charged me £20 for braking off two rusted locknuts ( they had to come off anyway)
Thing is it stayed dry for two days running, I could have done the job myself

Tbf I've never been a car fettler....I haven't the gear or ramps/axle stands etc. Even if i had, I needed it doing quickly for work, so couldn't afford to be off the road while I shopped around for parts.

Coincidentally, our Elgrand MOT ran out 2 week ago without the wife realising 😳 so I couldn't even drive somewhere to get any parts.

But even so...£540!? Ffs
