Carolina used to live in a cave, if she wanted to extend she would simply start digging, she wanted a wardrobe so she just dug it out….fantastic.
 
I think you don't own the space below as it would be a cone-ish-shaped thing infinitely small at the earth's core. I'm not sure of the limit of your ownership but I don't think it's far. Similarly above, you don't own the sky and you can't stop people flying over your home.

Also, you don't own the water space if you have a river on your land and so stopping people kayaking is arguable a bit like the flying argument although plenty of landowners try their best to stop you.

There is also a thing that you don't ultimately own it at all, it's a sort of lease from the state. In the event of war if the state wants your house or land they will take it.

I'm sure I haven't got all that quite right but it's something like that.

That is an interesting read - but when I’m in power I am going to abolish all those silly rules….
If you want to build up ⬆️ you can, planes can go around.
If you want to dig to Australia- so be it.

As the saying goes, you think you own your own house - stop paying taxes and see how long you retain the deeds. On the digging down to make a basement, in a wet winter period the water table where I live is only about 2 foot down, so I would have an indoor pool in the winter which funnily enough would NOT increase the value of my house. :)
 
One rule will say you own from earths core to the sky ( this is rubbish) another will say you own down as far as your foundations , but then upon looking I found a 2015 ruling that basically states , companies , government etc can drill for stuff such as minerals, oil etc under your home as long as they are at a depth of 300m, or is it feet , anyway that’s shite too .

WTF, just looked at an advertisement for , cough and alphard with everything on it brakes, body kit , suspension the lot and actually found myself admiring it and at one point almost considering the prospect.
