I spent this afternoon running my braincell at maximum capacity to figure out a safe way to install my diesel heater, which will also fit into my existing camper set up. I think I've cracked it now - I just need to buy some bits on aliexpress. I'd be interested to see if anyone has come up with a similar solution to me. I'll make a thread once I get the bits and figure out how to insert pictures.

My replacement wheel sensor arrived from Hong Kong on Saturday so decided to have a go at fitting it today, but as I only have one working hand at the moment I enlisted the help of Mme LeStempy. All went well and the new one was a direct fit plug and play and seemed of good quality with all the correct fittings in the right place.

After clearing the ABS fault code with NDS then the 4WD fault code with the 'pedal dance' method (NDS doesn't see the 4WD ECU) a quick test drive proved all was back to normal, so pretty pleased that all went to plan and so treated Mme LeStempy to a Benedictine over at the bar.

I changed an ABS sensor yesterday too but on a VW Golf not an Elgrand. I wasn't really working yesterday but the brother in law turned up with his Golf and asked "Can you just", I did most of the work but got him to do the boring repetitive task of cleaning the hole up before fitting the new one.

Don't drive across the strood when there is sea water on it (if you mean Mersea).
 
So miraculously the seat is in pretty good nick. I tried and failed this evening to fit it though.

My current seat base has what appears to be an amplifier bolted to it. Silver box with two wiring harnesses attached to it. I unplugged them but couldn’t see how to detach the cable clip from the base of the seat. The amplifier and associated wiring was obscuring access to the plug for the seat motor. I was trying to do this as a quick job before doing other tasks assigned to me by SWMBO so started to catch flak for how long it was taking… mission aborted for now.

Something I did notice though, worryingly… where the amplifier (if it is an amp) bolts to the seat base, there appears to be a bracket built into the seat base on my existing seat onto which the amp bolts. The new seat didn’t have this. I assume the donor car doesn’t have the 5.1 sound system my car has. Does this mean that the seat I’ve bought isn’t suitable? Or will it potentially be a case of swapping over the foam and covers between the seats and keeping my existing seat frame? Is that even possible, and are there any guides to it?
 
I wouldn't bother fitting it, black gaffer tape is just as good, I will take it off your hands though if you are desperate to sell, but please do a better job of wrapping when you send it to me. ;)

Yep I did, I'll see if I can make a more detailed post or something. I removed the plastic trim from the little cubby hole on the rear right hand side and mounted it on a steel mount that I made up. Worked out pretty well in the end.
 
I just came crawling back to the forum today because because of some potentially catastrophic engine troubles brewing. I thought it was the transmission, but apparently that's fine despite my neglect of it.
The mechanic reckons it's a timing issue and the engine is misfiring/backfiring into the intake manifold occasionally. I sense expensive but overdue maintenance in my future.

My old Murano sounded like that when the engine died (I suspect because it ingested bits of its front cats)… does your car still have the original front cats fitted?

Yes it still has all the cats, so it could be that, but I'm hopeful that it isn't. I'm perpetually intending to sell the van at the soonest opportunity but I still haven't done it. So if it survives this issue I'll get the cats sorted and service the transmission.
 
Another easy win.

Fitted the CANM8 cruise control today.

For anyone wanting to to do this....don't make the same mistake I did....feed the bare wires through the hole in the cowling BEFORE pushing them into the terminal block!!

It's a super quick install, I actually fed the red cable from an ignition live fuse via a piggy back so no cutting into the loom at all. Takes all of 40mins to do doesn't it 👍🏻

It really surprised me how few of these vehicles have factory fitted cruise control given they have so many other electric toys. Two things I didn't know I wanted when I bought mine was electric curtains and cruise control.

I wish mine had electric curtains. I was looking forward to playing with them, especially if a transporter owner was trying to have a look, oops no you don't, oops nooo. 😄. Now I'm having to fook around trying to get aftermarket ones I actually like.

And for this I can 100% genuinely blame Bob 😜

I must be lucky, I have electric curtains (02 Highway Star, Limited Edition)
 
I'm trying for 300 miles to the tank of daily commute 8 miles each way 4 days a week plus many more short journeys. Yesterday mornings 30 mile round trip was 28mpg there and 27mpg back 'on the display' I'm on 140 miles just shy of half a tank used after this mornings commute1000024880.jpg
