What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Got home and thought I'd give the rear windows a test. Mmm smooth opening👍 smooth closure on nearside 👍 offside smooth closu....clos....cl?? Oh shit lol. It so very almost fully closed. Had the wife try a little gentle persuasion but nope

Just got out the bath and was concerned as it's meant to rain tomorrow. I couldn't remember which way was to open or close so to find out I done the nearside again. Still buttery smooth. Direction confirmed I started it up and pulled the lever and it closed 98%. Got the wife to give it that extra 2% persuasion and it's now shut fully. Don't think I'll try that again
 
Sounds like a Déjà vu moment.
Had the same experience just after I got the Elgrand. Drivers side you have to give it a few clicks to fully open and close. Passenger side opened and then nearly closed!
What are wife's for if not for a gentle persuasion!
Don't know why... but probably wouldn't use them even if they both worked! But you can't help pushing a switch now and again.
You probably will try it again on a dry day after a while because curiosity kills the cat... or something like that!!

Mine did work perfectly on the white Elgrand but unfortunately I won't need them anymore! lol
 
Just chased down an ElFart on the way home from work. Flipped him the bird and then floored it.



Ok I just caught up and overtook because apparently that is the law. 🤔


Just thinking how much more intimidating I would look in the rear view mirror in matt black. I've also got a loud horn i can fit (grandad got it years ago for his boat) I wana be like jeepers creepers

I think you should paint yours Matt black.
It would look really nice in Matt black .
You would be much more intimidating if your bus was Matt black.
Sounds like you have a hankering for to paint it Matt black @P4ddy .
For fooooooks sake , paint it Matt black and have done with it lol.

Would look good though, problem is , once it’s Matt black you’ll miss the qx1

It'll happen but not yet. Yea it's getting a bit of an obsession lol a bit like driving the thing.
 
Yesterday I changed the drivers side rear wheel bearing. Removing the hub nut was difficult, 1/2" long breaker bar with a scaffold pole on it and the breaker bar was just bending, loads of penetration oil didn't help, heating the nut didn't help (didn't want to get it too hot and risk damaging the CV), got it off with a 3/4 breaker bar and scaffold pole. The rest was very easy but I expected it to be easy because I have changed this bearing before (so there wasn't a lot of corrosion binding it in) and I bought a replacement beairng complete with new drive plate attached.

I think I'll probably always buy bearings complete with driveplate attached in future, it saves messing with the press but it also means you don't have to worry about damaging the old driveplate so can give it some hammer to help remove the bearing.

I thought I could hear a little wheel bearing grumble a few months ago but checked every wheel, no play and no noise with the wheels of the floor at that point. With the new bearing fitted it is noticeable quieter but there is still something that sounds like wheel bearing noise from the front when I turn left, again no noise or play with the front wheels off the floor but I'll be replacing the drivers side front wheel bearing (and maybe the passenger side front bearing) anyway.
 
Today I drove 260 miles to my happy place - getting there didn’t make me happy at all.
As you can see there is mucho brake dust on my wheels, this is due to bellends on the motorway slamming on at 70 plus miles an hour for no reason whatsoever - then obviously I have to slam on as well, what the fcuk are they doing in my lane anyway?
Some bellwhiffs should stay at home and watch indoor bowls…

yesterday drove up to the Cotswolds to start our 15 night adventure.
no problems en route although leisure battery was dead when we left20260829_164059.jpg..... someone must have left an internal light on!

I think I've read somewhere that if you keep trying when it clearly has gone as far as it wants to, it isn't a good day out. But if you give it a minute or two, the capacitors cool (or something, again I might have read rubbish) or suchlike, and trying again then will finish off the closure.

I was at work trying chatgtb again, found those and gave it a go. I read Murano wheels are well suited because of the weight rating and straight swap. Assuming the fitting is the same across all years

Been weighing up if LPG is a viable option for long term ownership. I've got the 1 @£1:10 and the other is silly money. It'll take a while to break even though. I'm spotting a few places on my travels with LPG at the pump

Such a productive day.

All wheels off to check brakes.

Correct the previous owners lazy way of adjusting parking break, so wound off the foot pedal adjuster, adjust the shoes, then readjust the foot pedal.

Fit Aircon blanking plate...man what a SOB that small o ring is!

Fit Android screen, and wire in rear dash cam, chase all wires etc to tidy up.

Fit hammock type cargo net.

Also checked all calipers for free movement.
 
My replacement wheel sensor arrived from Hong Kong on Saturday so decided to have a go at fitting it today, but as I only have one working hand at the moment I enlisted the help of Mme LeStempy. All went well and the new one was a direct fit plug and play and seemed of good quality with all the correct fittings in the right place.

After clearing the ABS fault code with NDS then the 4WD fault code with the 'pedal dance' method (NDS doesn't see the 4WD ECU) a quick test drive proved all was back to normal, so pretty pleased that all went to plan and so treated Mme LeStempy to a Benedictine over at the bar.
