What have you done to your Elgrand today?

Very envious of a good sound system, my boy/dog Angus doesn’t like it when we play music, might be my singing, so something like that is out of my sphere, Bela Lugosi’s Dead would sound ace through that Kev!
Not sure it would through the Elgrand system Phil @PhillB but It would through this system which I have built up over something like 25 plus years which is essentially 2 systems ( a valve system for stereo listening and a surround system for watching tv/films

The valve system has a fair bit of Chi-fi in it with the Mingda preamp, which has point to point wiring, Yaquin power amps.(which are used to biamp my front pair) Gustard DAC and Breeze headphone amp and the valve phono stage all of which are very well regarded on the various hi-fi forums as punching far above there weight for there price point and with minor upgrading and with careful rolling of vintage valves are comparable to much more costly kit from more established names.

Really ought to get it back up connected and running again as it was taken out about 12 months or so to have the room redecorated and I have not got around to reconnecting again.

This was built up in the same sort of way as I am building the system for my Elgrand by buying virtually all second hand from lots of different sources with quite a few being bought from hI-fi forums such as Vinyl Engine, Wigwam etc and quite often travelling quite some distance to pick them up and all being bought for good prices and then often upgrading individual components and specs and rolling valves with some of the valves being well over 60 years old, some of which are now being sold for crazy money which I bought when valves were still at a reasonable cost and even selling some components on or relegating them to the other systems I have or giving them to my 2 daughters and now my grand daughter with them being the beneficiaries of a top of the range Yamaha AV reciever, Arcam processers amps, soundbars,B&W speakers etc over the years to upgrade again.

I have just started reforming and reclothing a pair of paradigm pdr-8 subs and am currenty waiting on the new foams and acoustic cloth that I have bought from Aliexpress to be delivered.

They may be going back into my main system or possibly selling (I have not decided yet)

These were bought second hand over 25 years ago and have had a variety of homes being used 1st as a single and then buying another to use as a front pair in my main system then as a rear pair when I bought a 12 inch Speakercraft bassX12 for the front and more recently were used as singles with a Arcam solo soundbar in my bedroom and the other lent out to my grand daughter to use with a Monitor Audio ASB10 soundbar that I bought her,

I will shortly be selling the Monitor Audio soundbar as she has recently moved into a bit bigger house and I have lent her a Arcam 7 channel processer and power amp and a couple of B&W floorstanders which I am not using at present which I have set up for her to biamp just the B&W's which provides plenty of bass even without a sub or any surrounds.

So you can see my tightness not only benefits me but also my family :D

Today, thanks to a kind fellow member, I have received a Remocon remote starter.....er....remote, the original one not supplied with car.
Will I ever get it to work with my car? I doubt it i but I will make a start over next few days and let you all know by posting on one of the Remocon threads that already exist.

Near the accelerator pedal I have found this thing which I can undo and it goes wobbly and has a wire going to it. 1716.jpg1716.jpgAnyone know what it is?

I want to take this kick panel off to see if there is a fuse for the remote starter, do I just remove the plastic nut and yank it?

After sorting out the overheating hopefully (turns out it seems it was the radiator cap) the weather hadn't been cold until last week. Arrrgh no heat up front. Rear heating works fine. Took a while but today I got front as well as rear heat.

Went out for a nice long drive and it was toasty.

But to reward my efforts the front blower motor decided to intermittently sound like a high pitched kazoo. Guess I upset the gremlins by fixing the heat.

It'll have to wait, I've got an LPG vapour filter to fit and bottle of IC12 to put through the injectors if it ever turns up.

Then I'll start looking up the pricing of a blower motor.

Dumped in some cataclean this time, used to do it on my old car and it always worked a dream so hoping it does with this too...
