Recently bought a big roof box and one of these things to ferry kids/dogs/aged in laws and whatever else we need to move from the car to the beach. Then it got me thinking. If I painted my car green could I pretend it was Thunderbird 2 and this was one of the many cool vehicles it had access to?

Just checked on my Elgrand and it seems I didn't have to worry as a higher power is obviously gazing down.

Discs and pads all round + freed-up a seized pin that took the old pad down to the metal but none of that is of interest I think.
What may be of interest is that my AC has gone kaput so I’m having that looked at on Tuesday but, in anticipation of not getting a quick fix on it, I have ordered some (allegedly) real sheepskin seat covers to reduce the sweaty arses we are getting now. Will post up how that goes when they arrive.

Brimmed the petrol tank with Esso Supreme+ 99, I like to have full tanks when long journeys are on the horizon. This full tank was purchased in aid of Mod Nats this weekend and the Cumbria Auto Show the weekend after.
I will be topping up the LPG later this week.

The price difference in LPG around the country is nuts. I filled up last week (Shell, Addlestone, Surrey) 72p.

Following with interest, thinking of doing same in my converted boxer van , under passenger seat is favourite at min but keep changing my mind , ive never used aliexpress are they any gd for the this stuff

I find aliexpress to be pretty decent - random components like LED auto bulbs, wiring connectors and stuff like that are exactly the same as what's being sold locally, but way cheaper. There's also far more options than what is available locally (in NZ anyway), often better quality at cheaper prices. Although, people import a lot of the Chinese diesel heaters, so it can actually be cheaper to buy locally because the market is flooded.

I'm a bit stuck with my install because there's no ideal place to put it with my set up. My plan was to buy a couple of stainless steel process pipe fittings to make a sealed platform so that the heater could be safely installed above the floor - but once tax and shipping is added it's not so cheap.

Working on it between other jobs I'd just about finished fitting the pop top roof and roof trim carpeting etc on the Elgrand camper... But realised it will be needing some curtains and the scrap Elgrand had factory curtains. So I set about again removing some of the interior trim (that doesn't have curtain rails) so I could replace it with the same trim sections (but which has the curtain rails) from the scrap Elgrand. Pleased to find out that on the 'good' Elgrand (that didn't have factory curtains) the rear row windows do have wiring connectors to plug the curtain rails into, not so pleased to find out that the middle row windows (doors) don't have wiring connectors for the factory curtains...

Behind the middle door trim there is a white control module, seems on models with factory curtains the larger plug that connects to the module has a couple of extra wires in it, in models without factory curtains those 2 wires (and the connection pins in the plug) are not fitted. At first I thought I'll just take the door loom from the scrap car with factory curtains and fit it into the good/camper Elgrand but the job is a bit of a pita because there's quite a few bolts to remove before you can remove the metal panel to get to connector plugs for the soft closing door / lock mechanism etc. An alternative would be to cut all the wires to that plug and solder in the other plug that has the 2 extra wires (and 2 x sockets wired in parallel at the end of those 2 wires for the top and bottom curtain rails). Or another alternative might be to source the extra pins (if they'll just push into that connector) and connect the 2 wires to those pins. The electric curtain wires are the top 2 pins (blue red stripe and yellow) shown in the pic. I suppose I should swap the control module too in case the one on the none curtain Elgrand doesn't support electric curtains. @LeStempy do you know if/what pins will fit into this connector plug?





It seems wiring is in place in the overhead console for electric curtains but obviously the none curtain Elgrand console doesn't feature the buttons. There are a couple other differences between the overhead consoles too.

The none curtain console has the autoDJ button and what seems to be a temp sensor, the curtain switch console doesn't have the temp sensor or autoDJ button.

View of the other side of the 2 consoles. Where a console doesn't have a sensor or button there is still a mounting bracket for the sensor (though no hole for air to pass through) or still a 'cut along dotted line' type marking for holes to be made to fit extra buttons. I did drill a hole for the temp sensor and fitted it, and I did cut out the section for the autoDJ button and fitted it (although no point in the latter I suppose lol).



When fitted it remains to be seen if curtains will work or something else is missing such as e.g. not coded in the BCM, but I could always swap the BCM.

I think it would have been far less hassle to fit a set of manual curtains. The sensor you speak of in the overhead is a microphone for the phone system. If you pull one of the pins from the door plug you can measure it and most likely find an equivalent on Aliexpress. You might have to buy 100 though, but still cheap.

Steve at Tojo might know more as he would sell curtain conversion kits from broken Elgrands.

Less hassle but I already have the electric curtain rails...

You could use the electric rails manually.

With the CT looming on Wednesday I gave it a good wash, including wheels off, round the wheel arches and blasted the crud from inside the side skirts and rear bumper. Farmers tend to drag most of their fields into the road where I live and it's good to remove it every now and then as it holds moisture.

Not exactly what I've done today but a great day, when I bought the bus last November the previous owner said he had a few bits and he would sort them out from his garage, dropped them off over the weekend, two new front discs and three (yes three) pads, a 32gb compact flash card and usb reader for compact flash, Japanese manuals and paperwork, and a, new in box, Can m8 cruise control - well happy
