well i am addicted to the Elgrand so importer question

as ever fab response they have a lot of other vans so I'm going to have a look at the different specs and start from there to find what I want. then if it's ok I will post my thoughts. no buying today but start of my journey

If I did not know better I would have said that was the van I purchased from them 2 months ago, except mine was a 4WD.
Looks as clean as mine and I could not be more pleased with mine (White ones are faster anyway).

Glad you liked it.

There is no difference in normal driving in how the 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive Elgrands drive when the 4 wheel drive button is not selected on the dash and you would normally drive the 4 wheel drive version in either 2 wheel drive with power just to the rear wheels as per the normal 2 wheel drive Elgrand or Auto when it will drive in 4 wheel drive but with I think most of the power being passed to the rear wheels and increasing power to the front wheels if it senses it is needed but without the diff lock on.

You would only engage 4 wheel drive with the diff lock on when needed, ie a muddy campsite field or bumpy tracks when driving slowly.

Something you may never need but if you do you will be glad you have it as I have been the couple of times I have needed it.

An additional benefit of the 4 wheel drive is that it will quite often also come with the Cold Region package (which could only be specified with a 4 wheel drive) which gives better heaters and front windscreen de-icer elements for the lower windscreen around the wipers when at rest plus heated wing mirrors and unlike any other Elgrand will have had some level of corrosion protection in Japan direct from the factory.

In my opinion especially on a camper it is a very useful option to have and even if you only use it once or never use it it at all better to have the option of potentially being able to drive off a muddy campsite rather than have to be towed off by a tractor.
 
guess only concern is mot is up in June not sure last service so i need to check history but yes 4wg is something I should consider
what i don't want is to cop a hefty bill

only thing holing me back is not 4wd so will see what else they have as well but any comments would be helpfull i did look at others but this was really well looked after and clean so its whether im worried bout the 4wd or not. We wont be doing a full camper conv on it

what i have noticed is there are quite a few never models of Elgrand for sale for not much more than the older version -for example e52

am i missing something here ?

You won’t do any better than contacting Dave or Paul at Worcester Road Motors, 01299 822239. When you say converted, do you mean as a campervan. If so consider having an upgraded electric system with something like the Ecoflow Delta 3 so you can install an induction hob and electric heating. No calor gas needed!

I think that firstly you need to decide what you want from your Elgrand whether it is a camper conversion as you first indicated or whether a large people carrier as the E51 and E52 are quite different

The reason that there is not much price difference between the E51 and the E52 even though the E52 is a newer model is simply down to supply and demand both here and in Japan.
 
HI Guys

What we are looking for is a sudi camper conversion at the end point. but maybe not a camper complete one so i think the E51 suits more.. I defo want 4wd so will all this feedback its helping me sort out what id like - i have seen a couple on the Jap Motors site. i did go to Worcester road but they had no 4x4 currently
 
so if im not going to fully load my van do I need 4wd?

Why don't you get an agent to import exactly what you want. Could work out cheaper too
