Tow bar - fixed or detachable?

Do you mean the relay coils are switched by wiring that connects to the vehicle bulbs, or relay coils are switched by their own module that doesn't connect to vehicle bulb wiring but does connect to canbus?

You could have fitted relays wired to vehicle bulb wiring on the S1, some do.

I'm just about to do the wiring on my Towbar but have the same issue as you! I've only made 9 posts apparently. So annoying! 10 Posts would be easy if I could actually access the important stuff...

Anyway, Hope you got your wiring completed OK! I guess I'm just gonna have to wing it...

This is what I'm fitting btw... (May be handy info for somebody?):
- Towtrust Detachable Towbar (TNIS2HK)
- Universal 7 Pin Plug Kit (TA-TE11A2M)
- Bypass Relay (RYDER TF2218/7H)

I never saw this Towbar whilst searching the interwebs... 🤔 Any chance you have the part number or Photos so that I can check it out?

A bit late now as I've fitted the Detachable Towsure Towbar (Which I wasn't too keen on the way it had to be drilled/fitted) but would be interesting to see how it differs!? 🧐
 
Hi folks need some help plz I've just been up to Perth towbar centre to get towbar fitted to my 1999 e50 they ordered a TN7 for it which is the wrong one the company he works with only has the TN7 listed
Any idea what one I have to order and where to get one cheers thanks beacon

The towbar came from towtrust part number TN7 the boy from Perth towbar centre says that one doesn't fit
I've phoned towtrust myself and waiting on a call back from one of there tech team

Sorry mate, just noticed you have an E50 so I gave you duff info, I have no idea if TT have one for that model.
 
Can anybody show a photo of Towsure or similar towbar fitted to an E51 with the Rider lower rear body styling apron to see how it looks because of you have to trim it I'm not going to bother...

I am looking to do the same to my rider 3.5 - would be interested to know if any cutting required!

I've fitted dozens of towbars on Elgrands, I'll be fiting another on Monday.

On a Rider whether or not any bumper cutting is required might depend on the year/series, whether you're having a fixed or detachable towbar fitted and whether we're talking about a Towtrust towbar or a different make.

I’ve got a 2006 rider autech 3.5 AWD - was planning on getting a towtrust fixed…
Most towbar specialists I’ve spoken to don’t seem to have any Elgrand knowledge!
 
@Lpgc where abouts are you located. I'm looking to fit a towbar purely for a bike rack and would prefer a knowledgeable fitter over my hamfists? Its more the electrics im worried about and I know from previous asks @Winchester isn't insured to touch my electrics.

I'm in South Elmsall, West Yorkshire, WF9 2DS. Just North of Doncaster.

Heh, yes I can fit and wire towbars and have fitted a great many on Elgrands, fixed, detachable, all the different types of electrics. Last time I fitted one on an Elgrand was last week, fitted it during the time the Elgrand was with me for LPG conversion with vapour take-off.
 
Ah that's a bit of a trek for me. Let me check when I'm next due to go to Leeds for work...
