Ok, how the hell does anyone resist driving their e51 as a daily even on petrol only. I moved mine about 2-3ft the other day and even that was a pleasure. Just hearing that V6 fire into life can make you burn through a tank just repeatedly doing so. It's so dam hard treating it as a second vehicle or 'fun bus'. What do you do? Stick a VW badge on the grill?

I use mine everyday even though I have a choice of others…..I just like driving it - as for the fuel it’s a drain on my wallet but I don’t dwell on it, when I can’t afford it, I won’t use it.

paddy you will give in to the temptation it will be at a set of lights and the spotty ouk next to you will look at you in a way that will set your inner monkey off and you will not be able to put him back in the box

Had mine for many years and use it everyday, it's my daily driver. The novelty wore off a long time ago but it's still a nice vehicle to come back to if for example we've been for a drive to the coast. I don't feel the pinch as much because I run it on LPG at 86p per litre.

I understand the 'sod how much it costs it's a great car to be in and to drive' thoughts, I used to run a 2.8i GhiaX mk2 (box shape) Granada when I was 19 and not on a great wage. But then I think it's a good job I wasn't into something like a 7 litre V8 muscle cars that only did 7 mpg and running it on petrol... because in that case I really wouldn't be able to afford to run it on petrol and probably wouldn't even want to pay for the fuel ot run it on LPG either (at least as a daily driver in the case I was running the muscle car on LPG). Modern muscle cars a lot more economical.

Greetings. I use my "tractor" every day. I live in a village outside the city but work in town—a 50 km round trip, plus the driving I do for work to visit various sites.
Sure, I could have bought something smaller or more fuel-efficient, but less reliable. I chose reliability. When it’s -40°C, I’d rather be cruising down the highway in a comfortable, all-wheel-drive van than scraping my backside against the ice in some Prius, trying to console myself with the thought that I’m saving the planet and cutting costs.
In today’s Russia, owning a nearly 30-year-old diesel van is a bit crazy, especially given that the price of diesel is so high it wipes out any fuel savings.
But I chose to be happy.
