Ramp recommendations

I was gonna use my old metal ones but I'm a bit nervous of going off the end as they only have a small stop at the end. If it was a manual I'd be more confident. Any recommendations?

Manual or automatic (slushbox automatic like our E51's) doesn't make much difference to me for climbing ramps and similar types of manouveres, in fact if anything I'd say automatics are easier than manual for that kind of thing... You can cover the the brakes and the accelerator pedal at the same time with a slushbox auto.

I have some fairly low profile concrete blocks that I stack to form a stepped ramp and have had thousands of cars on them over the years including some cars that have very low bumper / ground clearance.

I still use the concrete blocks for some jobs but if it's better to get the car fully off the ground I use a single post lift, though obviously a lift isn't something you buy on a whim or just to work on one vehicle.

Hgv driver, ex bus driver. Never had to drive up a ramp though. I get that but with me jumping between auto and manual I've recently stalled my golf more than ever when pulling up. I've also got in my lorry and gone to grab an imaginary gear stick lol.
Them wooden ones are mahoosive. I want to be able to put them away without them taking up a ton of space and a bit lighter too. Look great though

Which ramps might also depend on Elgrand model (HWS, Rider, etc) affecting front bumper and side skirt heights, whether or not it's on standard suspension / lowered / coil overs and whether it's 2wd or 4wd.

A 2wd Elgrand can kick some ramps skipping across the ground if you're trying to get both axles up at the same time, sometimes depending on the type of ground you're on. Some ramps won't clear the front bumper or won't go under the side skirts of even a standard height Rider.

I bought some of those plastic HD Rhino ramps from Ebay and they are very solid and have a quite low approach angle.
Just high enough for general maintenance/belts/oil etc.

Mine are one piece not split like these, and I've used them on Both the E51 and the Saab, with no problems. Have to be sure they are genuine though, as fakes do exist...

And keep them out off the sun when not in use to stop them breaking down

Thinking of just trying my metal ones and I'll blame lpgc if it goes wrong, it's bobs old hws, and i have extra bits to allow low bumpers to clear. My golf won't clear without them

Mine were in two pieces as shown apparently for ease of stowage - I had to make smaller wooden ramps to get onto the plastic ramps as the front of the Van was too low to mount without ripping the bumper off….all a bit faffy and in my eyes it’s easier to use a trolley jack and axel stands.

I got suitable stands and a trolly jack but i prefere ramps for getting underneath
