Possible Engine Block Cracked!

So, a drive to Sheffield from Hull ended in a massive water leak.
After 9 days my car was returned from Sheffield (Slow RAC) and delivered to Steve at Tojo in Beverley.
I always had in mind that this could be a cracked block and Steve confirmed my fears today.
Car is brilliant and in the 5 years I've had it , we've been all over in it.
I love the car and a decision needed to be made.... Another engine or scrap. Couldn't let the car go so we've bitten the bullet and Steve is going to replace engine.
Just to add that we were in The Netherlands a few weeks back so grateful it waited until we returned.

Possibly the fans on the 2.5 can pack up causing the overheat which can burst pipes or worst case, crack the head ( I'm sure I've been really unlucky ).
The 3.5 have a different type of fan which is more reliable and is controlled differently. The 3.5 style fan is to be fitted with my replacement engine which should help with any recurrence in the future.

As it stands Steve at Tojo had said it's a serious leak and he was confident there's a crack somewhere but had not located it. That was just initial assessment from puting water through. Could well be the head. I'm sure I will get more details once Steve has stripped it a bit more but he was very confident theres a crack somewhere by the giant pour out.
 
Did you see water coming from the engine? If so where on the engine did it seem to be coming from?
 
Sorry to hear of this, let's hope it's something less terminal.

Praying for a misdiagnosis and by this time next week you have better news fella 🤝
 
I like how title says block cracked but they didn’t confirm from where the water leaks out.
Maybe is the pipe running at the back of the engine , and is split where rubber joint is .

I can only go by what I was told it most likely was. I have no reason to disbelieve someone who only works on Elgrands. Of course I'm hopeful it is less of an issue but to be honest, my first fear was a crack. I'm sure I would have been told by now if it wasn't as serious....
