Hi All, before i knee deep into ordering £10000 worth of camping stuff. Has anyone got any good gems of information?

To be clear, i don't want to create a full camper at the moment, I have seen ideas where there is a removable pod that goes into the boot. I like this idea, I have seen some with a table in the boot, where potentially you can sit opposite each other. But figure we are unlikely to do this, however does anyone do an L shape in this? I cannot find it.
It will be for camping trips, we have a driveaway awning, also the odd night away visiting various events, instead of camping (which i dislike thoroughly) or getting cheap hotels.
We have curtains, currently not fitted.

Has anyone any experience advice or guidance or a pod they are looking to sell??

Thanks in advance

There are lots of suppliers that do L shapes for a range of vehicles, especially the smaller vehicles, but the Elgrand is less common. The units are known as Boot Jumps as well as camping pods. I know I have seen one built specifically for the Elgrand. They can be heavy. Simple and Camperize (don’t know if they have done the for the Elgrands yet though), are usually lighter as they have less in regard to drawers and gadgetry and cost a fair bit less money wise, you just put storage boxes underneath. Camperize I know do made to measure. Campal are usually more costly but they do made to measure, with all kinds of extras if you want more but they do cost a bit. I made a really basic one for my first camper. Wasn’t pretty at all but it worked and no one ever looked at my woodwork as it was covered with bedding.

Go and be stealth on the Berlingo and Peugot Partner camper pages if you have FB. They have some fab ideas on there that you could just upsize a bit (or have made upsized a bit) to fit an Elgrand.

Stolen from the Berlingo/PP page. This one someone has built themselves. Bed bits fold out widthways to make a wide bed.IMG_4965.png

Taken from a women’s microcamper group. I don’t know the women personally so have blacked out their faces. This is in a Berlingo. Again the bed folds out to become wider.
I am now almost sure it was this company that made the Elgrand boot jump which was L shaped. I can’t find the post at the moment. It was in a women’s camper group. I do recall admiring it.

They have L shapes in their microcampers section. They do a boot jumps as well as permanent conversions.

I case you are in the south, I used https://www.facebook.com/share/18kMQy96cj/?mibextid=wwXIfr to make some bits for me. They pretty much make anything you want for a camper including lots of removable options, and it can still be cheaper than buying a Campal new. They are a dad and daughter company in Hastings and are lovely to deal with.

Thanks all, Ill go check those ideas out. Im trying to get a ready to go option, but it looks like I may be digging out the tools again and making my own, the campal stuff looks great, however £1250 i could do alot with.

When I made my boot jump for my Peugot Partner it cost me £7 for the wood from my local wood reclaim place (alongside an old IKEA Ivar unit I had that I just down to make the legs) and about £30 in hinges (including locking ones for the legs). I could fold it flat and store the base under my sofa and the fold out pouffe I used as a mattress behind the sofa- it is still there now! It worked really well for me for over 3 years. I just used boxes underneath it for storage. I loved it! So useful, so practical and so cheap.
Camperize is probably the best option for a lower cot option. You just need to make sure you order the right legs for a flat floor of you have removed the seats.

Sorry, a day working at home and now I am going thumb crackers on my phone. A really low effort and low cost option used by a lot of microcampers are the long folding fabric ottomanish storage boxes you get in Dunelm. You can set them up as you wish in the day for seating and have storage. And fold out spares at night and pop a camping mattress on top to make a bed.
You would need to level the floor in the Elgrand due to the seat rails unless you remove them. I just bought a 1cm thick roll of dense foam and but it to fill the slots between the rails and pop a mat on top to even the floor out.

These. https://www.dunelm.com/product/faux-linen-rectangular-ottoman-1000214113?defaultSkuId=30723929

They are sturdy. I bought them for my first camper before I built my boot jump and now use them in my flat for the purpose Dunelm sell them for. An easy way to play with space whilst work out of you will camp and what you want in a layout if you decide to carry on camping.
