Hi all, still waiting to become fully fledged member to post in technical. Not sure this equates to a technical post but here goes!

I'm in a predicament. I want a drive away awning which means I need to install an awning rail. Problem being I need my roof rails and roof box attached so the rail needs to be on the outside of the roof rail feet. Anyone else had this issue and came up with a solution? Obviously cant attach it to the sliding door, as that would be in use.

Any help would be appreciated, anyone with images of their drive away awning setup including roof rails?

Also completely new to camper vans and camping. If this is a no go with the air awning, do camp sites allow a camper van and separate tent at the same time?

I had a C rail fitted on my previous Elgrand, it sat under the edge of the poptop roof. It was fixed in place with self tapping screws and sikaflex, the position was just inside the gutter where the roof bar feet go. That position wouldn't suit you but the method might work on the outside of the gutter.
I don't have any pictures that show this.

Camp sites vary on their rules, I have stayed at one that didn't allow a separate tent but this was clearly stated on their website.
 
Thank you for your advice, I'm not sure that would be possible, unless I cut out sections for the roof rail mounts but then its not weather proof unfortunately.

Even if the C rail was on the outside of the gutter? There will be a way of achieving what you want and there's probably someone who has done it.
What you need to do is get your posts up to 10 or more so that you can read the technical sections which includes a section on camping. Keep this link in mind as it has some photos of different ways to have drive away awnings

Im sure there's a way and I'll get there, really strange, I've reached 10 posts but still cant access the technical section and I've messaged a couple of admin with no response yet.

Thanks for your help, I'll keep the link in mind for when I get access.

According to your info that was post number 9.
 
You'll probably need to log out then back in again to access tech section.
