From my point of view (I need to tow a heavily laden twin axle caravan and just as heavy boat) too that's a good question.

It's said to be self charging and to have a 1.5L engine - maybe we should expect the little engine to need to be running at near flat out most of the time just on the flat, to need to use the combined engine and battery going uphill and potentially on a long enough uphill stretch to run out of battery power.... but maybe it would work out OK with the length and incline of hills we have in the UK, the engine could charge the battery going downhill too. I wouldn't want to risk it though lol.

I think it will be more like the E52 low roof line to reduce drag and have the big boot at the back for the batteries

Haven't looked at the specs and it is purely speculative but, aren't all these self-charging hybrids deploying small engines that operate at about 2000 revs delivering optimum efficiency? The small engine doesn't propel the vehicle, just delivers enough amps and volts to keep the batteries topped up and the electric motors running? Please correct me if I am wrong.....

I agree with all you said but I was talking about how hard the little engine would have to work towing a heavy trailer (for some of the same reasons you mentioned).. all the power comes from the engine to keep the battery that powers the motors charged.
