Insuring your Elgrand

Wow... Seems like an honest mistake, but you'd have to declare that every time you got a quote thereafter!

Guess there's a slight worry with any second hand car someone could have done something you didn't know about.

Wow, these prices look great! My best quote so far is £1600 a year, Japcover and Greenlight were unable to quote me??!
2013 2.5, 46 years old, 6 years no claims plus Mrs as a named driver, kept on drive, max 6k per year! Really struggling to find anything viable. Adrian Flux were £3600! Worst so far is £6500!

Third party quotes around £1400 😪

Fell in love with the car, but not the robbing insurance companies

Those are dreadful prices. Keep shopping around. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Running out of options 🤣🤣 but thank you

I'm with Direct Line, to my knowledge they don't appear on comparison sites. Their prices are pretty good although I insure *everything* with them so I get slightly preferential rates

Tried all of the above, best now is £991 with Admiral, very odd but it is what is is a
I guess
Japcover couldn't quote, and many have said this. Seems very odd.

Admiral were the cheapest by some way for me.

Having an issue now where I can't get "My Account" to recognise me, even though I've had policy number through and conf email. Support opens at 930 (wish me luck), but I'm just wondering - given Admiral seem quite popular here - if anyone came across that before?

Actually pain free, got through straight away, apparently you have to wait at least 24 hours for it to synch up, but they have also sent over the documents. Reasonable first impressions to be fair.

have you tried Aviva I'm with them and their prices seem to be really good this year £245 fully comp.
I was with them for a great price at £227 for a 2003 XL, but when I tried to change to a 2004 Highway Star with Outback conversion they wouldn't insure me. For standard vehicles they're great... but step outside that box and they don't won't to know. I've now gone with Greenlight because they actually knew what an Outback conversion was lol! £369 but it's insured...

Insured with Ageas here. Was about £450. Seems reasonable compared to some of the above quotes though it was more than my last boy racer car which I would have expected to be dearer (2012 Focus ST 2.0 turbo, which cost me about £270 a year to cover).

2008 3.5 HWS, 4k miles, driveway. 45 y/o driver, full NCB, no points.

Renewed my insurance which is due on 13/01/26 for £373.98 with Highway who are now part of Allianz, formerly LV. Last year it was £382.35. Used Greenlight insurance used both times.
2006 3.5 HWS, 7k miles PA, parked on drive, 64 y/o driver, full NCB, no points, fully comp, NE38 postcode.

This years closest other quotes were
£389.36 Admiral Essential
£417.84 Sterling - £550 compulsory excess!
£432.62 Admiral

I'm using Admiral multicar. Elgrand, Motorhome and tow car £900 for all three together (and home insurance)

I don't qualify for multicar as I only have one car. I do have a home so next year I might remember to try it again, it wasn't cheaper last time I did.

Great pointers on here.

My current (multi car) insurance provider does not insure this model of car, was looking for a quote before I purchase and they couldn't provide one.

Now trawling through the pages to see the options I have.
