Re the rear number plate the issue is the size of plate you have is too small if you get one 13x7 it should cover the unsightly parts.

Cheers. I noticed the front could also be wrong now.

Should that be the same size as the rear too?
Shouldn't the dealers know this?

I seen this thread when you first posted last week and had a look on the Jap Car South website to see what you had bought and what you had paid for it out of interest but was not going to comment as it seemed as though you had already bought and did not wish to put you off but feel that as your posts on this thread pretty much confirms my thoughts on this company that I have previously made on the level and the quality of prep they do that other members should be made aware

You should not be having to do any of the work on a newly imported Elgrand from a dealer that you are doing at the price you have paid.

Things like headlights restoration, correct size number plates and a machine polish and correction to near show room standard plus much more would normally be done by any decent importer.

TBH I prefer to do some things myself so it isn't a major issue for me. I appreciate it is towards the upper end of the price range and I will ask about the number plates but they are legal, just could be better and I do agree that an importer should know the correct size. I would imagine most people wouldn't be too concerned as the vehicle was generally clean but as someone who likes to prep my cars as a hobby, I'm happy to do this. A full detail is upwards of £700 so couldn't see too many dealers doing this, even main dealers on new vehicles do not go this far.

The CarVX report matches the description so no issue there.

I did discuss the audio side which they outsource. I'm an ex-avionics engineer so again would prefer to do this myself as I'm not doing it to a price.

I never really got a handle on pricing if I’m honest it there was not much difference in what I looked at.
I was going to go over to Dunsfold but I thought prices were on the high side for older models.
My two local importers cannot get any E51 stock so this was the next nearest option as I wasn’t travelling all over just to save a few quid.

Overall, this one with just 20k miles is pretty much perfect bar the minor issues mentioned and £30 for a set of plates is not the end of the world.

I actually went smaller on the front with 12x6 and it fits the space well.

Yes, factory fit, use google translate to read them......strangely the one you have pictured says "Tokyo Taxi services No Smoking."
