I bought a 15 plate golf GTI of these about 4 months ago.... I wouldn't recommend these at all! took me well over 2 months to get the V5 from them. When I went to view it, it had lowering springs on which I was happy to keep as they said they could change them back if I didn't like the Hight... when I came to collect it 2 months later they had changed them to normal springs, he told me that the shock was leaking and the spring was bad which it wasn't. I had 3 out of 4 wheels very loose and it needed a 4 wheel alignment as it wouldn't drive in a straight line obviously , the bonnet street had been swapped as it wouldn't hold the bonnet up anymore which when I viewed it it had stayed up fine, the radiator was not clipped in properly ( suspect they changed that as well) and as a result of that the coolant hose has snapped off... all within the drive back, had to spend money to get all these issues fix as I fused to go back to them so they could mess with it more ... other than that low miles and it is a great car... shame these lot couldn't do proper jobs and lie

So it’s not just me. I think that ‘must do better’ is actually turning into a ‘stay away’

I know how u feel aces88, I bought an E51 this Feb, mine cost £3.995 for an 04 plate.
I'm still going thro issues with mine, tho they are sorting things out albeit slowly, with my dealer in the Valleys.
So far:
They have the replaced the n/s mirror, the door car card was loose, it's more secure now. The n/s mudguard was flapping an loose.They used cable ties to secure it.
The instrument cluster, needs to be replaced as fuel gauge is faulty.
No bonnet stay, the handle for the scissors jack is missing. So far.
Its smoking from exhaust, he said thats condensation, yeh rite!

Can u get an right angle pipe that directs it downward, as the fumes are very present, when u open the tailgate.

Not sure. mine kind of did that on the Highway star I had.

Original Elgrand exhaust turns downward a little but you can get universal exhaust tips from most motorists d,I,y shops.
The light grey/whitish smoke is common and is condensation ( shouldn’t last long at all)
Anything black, blue /black or long lasting is of concern

Couldn’t tell you mate, I haven’t got a standard exhaust on mine and I’ve forgot the original size.
I’m sure someone else will know, this is assuming you have original yourself
Best bet is to measure yours and buy one to suit

Tried Halfords, nothing there. They suggested a custom shop.

If its just a bolt on tip for the tail pipe your after. Try ebay or amazon. Probably cheapest and easiest option

They said it wont bolt on as its flared.

Do you mean fumes come in if you open the tailgate with engine running? Surely that must be expected?

Yeh I know, its just I never noticed it before on any of my diesel cars.
Last petrol one I had was a Mondeo estate.

Definitely stay away bud, I've just had another pipe go and my mechanic said looks like it's jad a bodge chop repair

Also check out their new white golf GTI THEY HAVE switched bumper and says GTD on back but GTI on front
