It's not that the French Crit’Air system is complex, but rather the abolition of LEZs was voted for by a parliamentary committee this Wednesday, 26 March 2025. Don’t rejoice too quickly if you own an older vehicle or plan to visit a city with LEZs: the system’s end hasn't yet been confirmed.

Le Mans is a nice town to visit apart from the circuit. There's a free camping car aire down by the river with water services. The museum at the circuit is a bit underwhelming but still worth a visit.

We drive to Disney every year. If you're just driving there and back you won't need one. Disneyland Paris is located in Marne-la-Vallée, which is outside the Paris city center and its low-emission zone.

I will add that any area can be made a temporary low emission zone if deemed necessary by local government, so for a couple of quid may still be worth getting one all the while the LEZ legislation is still in force, which could be a while knowing the pace of such things here.
