The vLinker FD I bought turns out to be the WiFi version with no BT connectivity.
Does the App work with a WiFi only dongle?

Hi

Yes you should be able to as it's built into the app but I've not tested it, the problem with Wifi connectors are that they hog the wifi on your headunit or phone and stop wifi data to other apps, so you will lose maps / Spotify / internet I think? (good if someone can confirm).

If possible send it back and swap for the Bluetooth version? See Dongle compatibility chart below:

Not able to return, so will try it on my 3 hr drive to Sussex tomorrow. I will see if it interferes with Google maps, however I know the route well, and I don't do Spotify etc, so not a problem.
Wish I'd been a little less quick on the eBay BIN button..
 
Also bagged a vLinker from Ali, tested and works great.
 
Build 51 is on Play Store for Testers.
  • Live economy gauge turns green, amber or red against your own van’s steady cruising. It stays grey until it has learned your van, which needs about 100 miles of steady warm driving from build 51 onwards.
  • Trips>Economy shows economy by speed, with your van’s best cruising range.
  • Each drive gets a coloured economy bar, and there’s a Last drive card.
  • Health compares bank 2 with bank 1 against your van’s usual.
  • Filled-up is stricter, and restoring a backup now saves a safety copy first.
  • Service countdowns go by date until the dash mileage is set.
  • Tyre sensors are only kept once you assign them a wheel.
  • Report now always gives you a file.
Update over the top, never uninstall. Send a Report if anything looks off.

This is the same device that I created the exports from, to share them I saved them to the phones Download folder or directly to Google Drive. I get a dialogue window to choose the location.

Where should the Report file be written to?

You might find that you can do a wifi direct connection to the device and still set your phone's "internet" connection to another SSID.

Another option is to use another device. You can grab a cheap Android tablet and use that instead. Until I've worked out a neat replacement for the E51 built in screen, I'm considering using stickable velcro to put one on the top of the screen.
