E51 now in Spain

Was it expensive to register you van as a Spanish vehicle ? My sons moving in the summer and not sure whether it’s worth it…

It cost me around €1500 he will need residency as that is the best way to do it and a gestoria to do the import paperwork and the paperwork for traffic department
He needs to have the car longer than he’s been resident as no import duty if he’s lucky
The Spanish itv takes a while and a certificate of conformity needs to be done !
 
Thanks for that. He did start a process in Denmark a few years ago on his old car but it was going to be £2.5k plus yearly taxes - so he bought it back to the uk and sold it!
 
It’s a bit harder if he’s not a Spanish resident I waited till I got residency lots of paperwork , translations etc The road tax is cheaper here and insurance is cheaper than the uk
it was a headache to be honest luckily I have a Spanish wife who helped
