Hi all,

My Dora is a camper van, and I am considering purchasing a diesel heater, in particular the Sunster TB10.

I will also use it for night fishing.

My question is, how have people routed the exhaust? As it seems counterproductive having the heater inside with a window open for the exhaust.

Or, is there any other product on the market that can get left outside but route the heater pipe into the van?

There appears to be very little information available on suitable diesel heater locations for the Elgrand, although there is plenty of general guidance on the installation process itself.

I am preparing to install an internally mounted Knordkapp GSM 2kW heater in the rear passenger-side corner, as this appears to be the only suitable location for a turret mounting plate. I was surprised to find very limited information online about this type of installation, especially as there are a fair few Elgrand’s that have been converted to campers. Most examples I found were installed under the passenger seat which looks a pain to mount and requires ditching some OEM components (Under-seat storage tray), and only one rear installation shown, and that used a boxed heater.

After several weeks of reviewing the available information, it seems there are a few possible mounting positions if a turret mount is not being used. However, space underneath the Elgrand is very limited when trying to avoid existing pipes, rails, and other components, so the options are still restricted without a turret plate. If using a 40mm turret mount, which is almost essential in a camper due to floor insulation and fire safety considerations, the available locations become even more limited.

Given that I have a “rock and roll” bed the only option is right at the very back roughly 5 ½ inches to the left of the spare wheel bolt where a flatish panel can be seen when viewed from the rear. It is just big enough to house all the components including the heater, topside.

It will likely be a couple of weeks before I begin the installation, but I plan to take photographs throughout the process and hopefully some detailed location photos with measurements.

Hmm, I might be able to make something like this, as I have a Perspex shop not too far away, and they'll cut anyzie to any shape.

I could get a piece cut to sit on the inside of the passenger door, with the holes for the inlet and power source.
