Well, I have to say, overall I'm pretty disappointed with the meets and events situation within the club.
It seems that the responsibility of organising these events falls on the same shoulders every time, and those people have the same problems with people saying they will go and then dropping out.
We need to get more people on board with this. I know not everyone joins a club to socialise, a lot of people just want information. But a big part of this club, and most clubs, is the social aspect. Getting out to meet other enthusiasts and getting to know the people you talk to on a regular basis on the forum and Facebook.
We are now pushing over 1500 members, which would make you think there would be more meets than when the club first banded together. This has not proven to be the case.
The number of meets organised and attended are fewer this year than any year previously. Why is that?
So, I'm coming to you guys. Is this because it's something you don't want? Do people not feel comfortable arranging a meet? What is it that is stopping us getting together more often and widening our circle of friends.
I like to think that 99% of the members here are good people who will bend over backwards to help fellow members out when and where they can. There have been very few confrontations between members, and when it has happened it's been over minor trivial things.
So why aren't we all getting together more often?
Now, I know in my own personal circumstanced, the last 12 months have made it very hard for me to get out and do anything, and I appreciate a lot of other people are in the same boat. But surely that doesn't apply to all 1500 members?
What can we do as a club to start getting people together more often? Or should I just hang my jacket up and stop trying to push the social aspect of the club?
