If I lived by the sea I’d also like to take extra care.
As mine is low mileage and not yet under sealed I have started to buy a few products from Bilt Humber who have a good reputation.
Atom Mac would be a good product in my opinion to use after washing and one bottle should last a good while.

For the paint, anything that makes it repel water is going to help. If I’m being lazy then Autoglym Polar Seal is a spray on product.
For wax if you want to go that route then Bilt Hamber Double Speed has a good reputation.
I find that keeping a car clean is much easier once the paintwork is in a good state.

just the paint Ant, it has been undersealed but the coating on the LPG tank is starting to flake off !!!! a job on my list.

as to the polish my last van came with a tub so kept it and been using it on this van (and my bikes 😁)
this is the stuff.

Thanks for posting, it was an interesting listen and the Fairy Liquid bits were informative. I'm glad I've never wasted money on more expensive(?) coloured snow foams with fruity aromas.

Agree. I just listened to it and it was much more in depth than I expected.
I shouldn't be surprised as Radio4 programs are among the best IMO.
 
Just gave it a listen out of curiosity.
And to be fair the majority of the chat is common sense stuff, that I already new from talking to enthusiasts or detailers. Ie fairy liquid strips your coatings, polish wears down the clearcoat, pH level advice, waxes or ceramics etc.
The woman chemist (can't remember her real title) kinda misses or dismisses the point of car cleaning when talking about certain products. Yes we know snow foams and pre-washes etc aren't miracle washing products, but they do help with loosening the dirt before a contact wash, thus reducing swirl marks to the clear coat.
All in all just do what you want, buy the marketed stuff or don't. Make your own mind up on what products you like or make the job easier. If you enjoy it keep doing it.
A cleaner well looked after paintwork is going to last longer, and stay in better condition, than an unkempt one at the end of the day
 
A friend of mine thinks most mainstreem channels and news services are biased when they do report things, further biased because they pick and choose what they report on. He would cite the BBC editing Trump's speech and cite an ITV presenter trying to get veteran Alec to appear racist.

But that's getting into politics while the main point of the thread was about car detailing, it's difficult to see why a supposedly none commercial broadcaster would have intentional bias about car detailing.

Years ago Car Mechanic magazine did a big feature on LPG conversions and spent hours talking to me to get information on the subject. They still managed to get half of it wrong and contrary to what I clearly told them lol, I don't know how they managed that unless the editor second guessed some of what I said and got it wrong because his/her beliefs/intuition didn't fully match what I'd told them. My friend would say the car mag got it wrong by accident while trying to do the best job they could on an unfamiliar subject, he'd say a lot of news shows are biased, especially when deciding what to report on or what not to report on.
 
Imagine a “car detailing” article in the USA, there would be zero impartiality, it would be funded by someone selling you products with no interest in education or the benefit to the listener/end user.
Pretty much like the news in the USA

I wonder if it'd be copy/cut and pasted to suit, known about for 6 months without mentioning, 'educating' the viewer/listening with an alternate version of 'reality' which didn't actually occur, and paid for by a massive, massive proportion of the public, who still have to pay even if they never tuned into their channels :-)

Still, it's funny as heck seeing the mess they're in at the moment, and I guess it's totally warranted to have an opinion on a 'product' milions are (forced) to pay for. Someone would have an opinion on a dealer, garage, service place etc if they give them money for a product, so someone is afforded the same for an 'institution' which they pay for. Difference I guess though, is you aren't de facto forced to pay for a particular garage's licence, even if you never use that garage, but use any other 'live' garage elsewhere :-)

But yeah, you are right, it has done a scuba dive
 
I’m sticking by them, they gave me ‘Strictly’
Worth the licence fee and bias reporting on its own.
It’s the only time I’m allowed to sit with my Wife and perv for an hour without getting told off, fantastic viewing.
Even La Voix is looking doable. 😍
 
I agree with you Peter on sticking with them (fucking idiots!) but It’s a huge assumption that La Voix would do you!
