Im in canberra... anyone know of any good mechanics to take my Elgrand to?

from what i gather its the gearbox oil that needs to be frequently changed to avoid major issues

It's great to see so many Aussies on here. I'm in Canberra. Chime in if you're down this way

All gone a bit quiet.
I'm in Caboolture if anyone passes by.

Hi everyone! I’m in Byron and just acquire an E51. Would love to learn about the van sharing with you.
I'm in Chinderah (5 minutes south of Tweed heads) and bought an e50 last week.

Anyone heard of a Elgrand wrecking yard in Willawong?
Apparently it's pick-your-own- part.
I'm hunting for a pair of side skirts to fit my e50. I got quoted $80 each.
Hopefully they'll have one in white so I don't need to re-spray to suit mine.

Decent price or not?

Wow plenty of Aussie owners I see. I'm in Bundy and see a lot of them on our streets too. Does anyone know the story with importing newer models to Aus?

Might be worth you starting a new thread with 'Importing newer models to Aus' in the title mate? ;)

Also, when you've done 10 posts, log out and log back in again, you'll be able to see more parts of the forum and some of the more in-depth / technical chats.

Hi, I'm near dubbo NSW, anyone have an 2000 E50 4wd V6 Highway Star?
Or similar with 4wd. According to mechanic he's never seen one, and can't fix warning lights with code scanner.
Praying there's other Aussie with this model.

I have a 2000 E50 V6 Highway Star, but not 4wd. Engine check light has been on for years because no mechanic has been able to work out why it's on!

Hi Ben,
I know that feeling, I've struggled to understand why mechanics can't figure it out but after doing my head in on here reading the E50 section and following external links I understand the error lights and codes a bit better. Basically the early E50 with 14 pin plug aren't compatible in any way with OBD. 14 pin plugs are JOBD ,, Japanese on board diagnostics . Mechanics don't use or have the consult protocol the 14 pin imports need. ( if I've said that wrong for anyone reading this please correct me, I've just educated myself yesterday) .
I was going to go down the path of trying to buy everything I need to read and fix via scanning but in all honesty I'm too old for that shit, I'd rather dig a hole with in clay with a spoon, so I put my efforts into trying to find a mechanic who does have the skills and tools to read the old E50, and I managed to do exactly that. I found him through remembering that the van is an import, (duh,) and I was unbelievably lucky that the place that imported my van is in Tamworth, only a cpl hours from me. I rang and the mechanuc, Dion, has the scanner I need and can fix the van. I'm happy I don't have to try to figure out how to do parameters and values and codes and blah blah. I was going to suffer big time trying to learn all that. I always fix my own everything, but I've never had to work on anything with a computer, and now I'm happy to say I won't have to.
I'm not sure where you are but the business is called Tamworth mods and imports. They do certification and engineering on hotrod and bikes too, even better cause I'll get to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I've been heaps stressed so I know how u feel with your van.

Sounds pretty lucky to have found what you need in Tamworth of all places! I grew up in Gunnedah, but I live in Victoria now, so no good to me unfortunately. I'm not worried about it, though. As I say, it's been that way for years, so it mustn't be anything serious.
