Are all E51s supposed to come with the spare wheel underneath in the cradle?

Looking to buy
I was looking at a prospective '59 plate fresh import E51 last week and when I looked underneath near the rear, whilst looking spotless for rust, I noticed it had no underneath spare, nor that bracket/cradle which holds it. I had that 'what's missing here?' feeling, as everyone I've looked at before have had one (later reg plates too, like this one)?
Where they an option? Has it simply gone amiss as the years rolled on?
Cheers

I've seen at least one late model E51 that looked like it'd never had a spare wheel cradle fitted.

Should you want one I usually have a few in the yard but you'd have to collect it.

Mine is a 2010 and it didn't have a cradle but I picked one up from Simon, it's an easy fix.
I've put a new space saver tyre on recently, bloody expensive they are .
