All “campervanned” up!

Hi all,

I just thought I’d check in with my latest Elgrand escapades
I have finally got it converted into a campervan at last after having to put it back because I was off work with a fractured elbow and torn tendons
I collected it yesterday from New Dawn Conversions in Birmingham who done a grand job, I’m over the moon with it
Now I’ve just got to somehow try to fit EVERYTHING in it that we’ve bought for it and try it out 🏕

Yes it’s been frustrating more than anything really as I’ve not been able to work or do much in case I re-injured myself, which I already did once Which set me back to square one again
But onwards and upwards now and I can’t wait to hit the open road and try out my new toy

Yes ok I’ll see what I can do in the picture department though I’ve struggled to figure it out in the past
I only picked it up last night so I haven’t taken any pictures yet but I was planning on doing a before and after set as I took a couple of it before I dropped it off

I turned half of the rear of mine into a no build build sort of thing (as I still need use of some of the rear seats) a couple of years ago, I just spent the winter refitting it with a new layout and spent some very cold days/nights sorting it all out, and I went away at the weekend for the first time this year.. and realised I now want more room as mine is not big enough, lol, so I will be selling mine at some point over the next 3-6 months, as I'll be buying a bigger van

Hi Paul,
I’m not actually sure without measuring it but I’m 6ft tall and I can lay on it no problem so it’s probably about 6’2”, we went for a standard width as we didn’t want to have to have shallower units.
I think it’s about 38” wide so it’s going to be a bit cosy with me and the mrs

Looks fantastic, almost identical layout to mine. New Dawn are a great converter so you'll be very happy I think.
I've also got the standard width bed, but I camp solo. I reckon it might be a bit snug for two of you.

Yes it’s lovely and now we’ve actually “used it in anger” we camped out in it last night at a camp site with electric hook up etc, it’ll take a while to get used to the logistics of it all and yes it was very snug You know what women are like for hogging all the bed I had my face in the roller shutter most of the night and the bed is rather firm, I don’t know if it’s because it’s brand new or not, but I think we’ll have to get a mattress topper as I woke up feeling like I was about 90 years old

Yes you definitely need a mattress topper on top of the bed, I use one about 7.5 cm thick and it makes a huge difference (I had one previously 5cm but found it a little less effective).
When it's a bit warmer, and depending on how 'active' you are during the night , you could always go one up in the pop top and one on the bed if it gets too much. You'd need another topper up there as well. Self-inflating camping mats are a good alternative to a topper.
