is ef2 s3 best for radio etc
need ulez compliant dont want later one because low roof, gonna day van it, ?

2006 or later for ULEZ compliance, though you'll want to double-check on the official checker as the odd 2006 Elgrand gets misclassified. Fixing that is easy - you just let them know it's a 2006 đź‘Ť

You're correct in stating the E51 series 2 is easier to install a double din into.
If you'd prefer a series 3, there is a way to install the unit behind the dash, fit a touchscreen overlay onto the screen...

Like I said ,it don’t take much but E52 s3, s3 would imply e51up to 2010 as described in info from @MarkT
Low roof I presumed to mean E52 2010 onwards
I may be having one of those days though lol
 
There is an E50 , E51 series 1/2/3 or an E52. 2010 was the changeover year from E51 to E52 so a 2010 can be either.
