Can anyone shed any light on the text on this old stacking box please. I'm unsure of which Far Eastern country it is from, whether Chinese, Japanese or even Korean. I don't have any other photos but it is a wooden box covered in leather with decorative painting and text. It could be a dowry box or large bento/picnic box, it stands around 2ft high and is likely missing a carrying frame.

I tried Apple Translate, that seemed to think it was Japanese and had the word Dumpling and little else.

It is a Tibetan box used by Sherpas some text picked out which maybe relevant

The box is now mine :)

It was at an antique centre with multiple pitches and by chance today the dealer was on site. He said it came from a house clearance of a gentleman who had lived in the Far East (very probably Hong Kong) and he got several oriental pieces. I also bought a yolk back lacquered chair which is very Chinese in style.

At some point I will make a wooden frame like a dowry box to hold a piece of glass above and use as a side table.
